SOURCE: my smeg wdi 12c washer

Hi from retired Englishman in SW France,

Could be that there is water still inside keeping the garments wet so sorry, try this but no promises!

I would gently suggest as a first step that you clean the drain motor/pump lint tray/filter. So many 'faults' are caused by blocked filters and many machines will not even go to rinse or spin or release the door lock if there is any water still left inside.
Following are my complete and generic guidance notes for checking both the drain motor filter and the drain motor ;-0)
REMOVE POWER AND ENSURE YOU HAVE A WATER RECEPTACLE/RAGS TO SOAK UP THE WATER WHICH IS BOUND TO POUR OUT (alternatively use a wet vac as sensibly suggested by VinnyB1234!)
If you are unsure where the filter is, it is often behind the front lower (kick) panel (or in some machines at the rear in an awkward position!). These panels are either held on by (plasic) screws or will just pull off. Most filters are held in by a round cover/knob. Sometimes the filter will not come out with the cover and you will have to persuade it to come out to play.

It's surprising what people have found in theirs! It is always worthwhile checking it on a regular basis.
Now- whilst the filter is removed it is normally possible to see the drain motor and ensure it is not jammed by a foreign object such as a needle or a toothpick. It should be able to be turned by hand/finger- the power IS OFF!
At this point it is also possible to test if the motor works. No clothes or water in the machine, select a spin cycle and put the power back on. You should be able to see the motor turning at some point, possibly straight away. Using something suitable like a glove see if it is easy to briefly slow the motor down. If it is easy then the motor is malfunctioning.

If this has assisted you please consider a 4 thumbs up for the rating.
Thanks and good luck!
John C

My SMEG oven will not work, when I try to turn on the oven the whole thing powers down (the clock timer dies) The only way I csn reset this is to switch the power at the isolation switch off and on several...

This tutorial will show you how to check your Smeg element and how to replace your Smeg cooker element.
Here are the 3 main faults to look for in your oven or cooker that is not heating
  • Your oven will not work until the clock/timer has been re-set after replacing an oven element or tripping the electrical supply. Consult your Smeg manual.
  • If your Oven is not getting hot or heating up it could be a faulty element, if the fan in the oven is running and the thermostat light is on, this will lead us to believe that the element has gone faulty. With grills the thermostat light should come on there should be heat, if not then this could be the grill element or the thermostat.
  • When you turn the oven on, the household electrical supply trips on the Rcd (this is the earth trip in the fuse board sometimes called the breaker tripping) your fan oven element has gone to earth and needs replacing.

Smoke come up from bottom of 3-month new smeg oven SA702X when try to heat up

Hi.

Smoke coming from the oven is not normal. Ensure that the smoke is not vapour coming from the food inside the oven.

If there is vapour coming from the hinge area, then ensure that door and hinges are installed properly.

If you get smoke from the oven, try cleaning the oven cavity, follow the instructions on manual to clean the oven.

If after cleaning the oven, there is still smoke coming from the bottom side, then call Smeg and have the oven replaced. There is one or two years warranty on the appliance.
Smeg support and service phone number is listed in the oven manual.

Regards.

My smeg oven has a terrible noise in the fan on right hand side. My husband thinks the bearing has gone. As it stops quicker than the other fan.

It is going to be a worn bearing, or a loose or broken fan blade.
It more than likely means that you are going to have to replace the fan motor complete
One thing you can try is to spray the motor bearings with WD40, this may help to quiten it down
Hope this helps.

SMEG WDI 12 Washer/dryer Unable to fit new belt

Sadly, the answer to your question isno, it's not normal. In fact as soon as I saw the first sentence of your problem, I guessed the rest. The wheel should have no play at all and the drum and wheel move together on a sprung mechanism. The reason that the wheel is loose is because the bearings in the drum (That sit directly behind the centre of the wheel) are worn out. To be sure that this is the problem, open the front of the machine and pinch with your thumb on the outer (static) cylinder of the drum and your forefinger on the drum that spins. There should be no play here whatsoever. I suspect that you will see the best part of a quarter of an inch of play and pinching as I describe will make a nasty little clunk at the same time. The other classic sign (though not always there) is that there is a tiny amount of water leakage from the bearing at the centre spindle of the wheel. The reason the belt comes off is because the wheel is unstable on the worn out bearing.

Some machines can have their bearings replaced by a competent DIY-er, but many require a specila tool to extract the damaged bearing and press the new one into the housing. I imagine that a call to your local supplier will reveal which of these actions is possible for your machine, but either way, this is going to be a real pain. It's a drum out job and that's not fun if you have never done it before (I do occasionally, and I still don't have any fun!).

Sorry to be the bearer of bad news.
