Thanks Syllamo for that video but it still does not tell me how to go about finding the model number and make, the video just told me HOW TO BUILD A CUSTOM BUILT DESKTOP computer.I already have the serial number of that computer. I did find a set of letters and nothing else on the motherboard, i loked on top bottom and both sides of the motherboard and the set of letters is all i found useing a flashlight. What do i do after i find the set of letters? I was told by someone else to look at the lan card and i did but again it has no info.

Not sure about the system itself, if you want, I can do some support through email and chat and can walk you through some things. It may require you to take some pictures and send them. email me at syllamo (at)

If you know your monitor works then the likely culprit is the on-board video could be bad. If you can give me the model # of your computer or if it's a custom computer, the model # of your motherboard, I can let you know what kind of video card your computer takes and what brands to stay away from.

Good luck and hope this helps. If it does, please vote! Thanks!

I have no drivers........

Hi there,
Is this a custom built pc or a branded computer?
If it's branded can you please tell if it's a DELL, HP, Acer, Lenovo, Asus, etc. and don't forget to include the model number.
Because these big computer manufacturers have the drivers available for download on their website.
If it's a custom build computer please provide the exact model of your motherboard so we can find the necessary drivers for it.

Where can I find the original drivers for the tv-tuner?? And the answer is not on sony's website. I tried that, they only offer updates to the driver, but not the original drivers. My problem is that I...

If you were to log on to the manufacturer's web site, there may be an old driver that you are able to download if available, by model number, All available Driver downloads as required.

If the driver is not available, perhaps your manufacturer does not support the OS you are installing.

This is the best way of ensuring up to date drivers for your system and they are free of charge!

I hope this helps.

When playing 3d gaMES, my computer lags! what should i do? can i change my video card? i have an acer aspire 5732z. your help would be a great gift for this christmas! thanks a lot!

Since you have a laptop, laptops cannot handle games very well. You're better off with a custom desktop. Sorry mate. But you can save alot with customs. I spent $1400 in my custom Q9400 when another pre-built system costs like $2500 lol

Video & sound problem

On your Dell computer is a service tag. Contact dell with that number and they will tell you what card is installed in that computer.

XPS usually contain either an ATI or an NVidia card. Thats about all I know. I had to replace one with a newer video a few months ago for a client of mine because Dell didn't support the machine and couldn't pinpoint the model number of card. I know on the website there are about 4 to 6 of them to choose from.

You don't need to disable the on board video chip to use the PCI video card. However, if you do have a problem that relates to disabling the on board video chip, you can edit those settings in the BIOS.
