Question about FixYa Service

I have been asked to help solve fixya problems but many questions seem written so the problem cannot be understood, how can I help 'clean up' some questions?

I hope I have described the difficulty in the subject line. I received an email from fixya, requesting that I help some, more, but I see when I last tried to help clarify some questions, I got no responses. It seems as if fixya need to find folk to clean up many questions and probably remove many others. If I had the power so to do, I would do a few from time to time, might I be of some help?

Thanks for your question and welcome to Fixya. If you are familiar with the expert levels on Fixya you will be happy to know that some of the functionality you are asking about is already available on the website.

    Also until you reach level 3 status you can always report any content you feel may have been posted in error. Just look for the flag icon on the appropriate pages.

hello , unfortunately ur account has been blocked by urself.. generally due to security reasons yahoo will block the accounts who retreive their password wrongly... like u have to answer the security questin...dont panic ... write a mail to yahoo regarding your problem..mentioning ecah and every details that u gave at the time of yahoo account setup ... definiely u will get back ur yahoo account..

Unfortunately, you can't change the subject line of a received email in Yahoo! Mail. What you can do if you want is to forward the email to yourself, and change the subject line before you forward it. That way, you'll still have the email and all of its information, but the subject line will say whatever you want it to say.

How to request more information for an unclear question on Fixya.

Sometimes when folks need help with their product issues, they can be frustrated or in a hurry to get help. This sometimes causes questions to be rushed or unclear. In many cases these types of questions don't provide enough information for Fixya Experts to help. Missing models, years, or even small details can make a huge difference when asking a question.

As a Fixya Expert there is a simple way to contact the person who has asked a question and ask them for more information. Simply following these easy steps will help you get the info you need to help folks solve their problems.

When a question does not have enough information for you to provide an answer, simply click the request more info link below the question. A box will appear with a default message (can be edited) requesting more information. Just click the send button and the person asking the question will be notified about your request.

Using the request information feature can help you get the information you need to help answer any unclear questions. This is also much more convenient and helpful than simply posting an answer that just reads: "No model, how would we know", which is not really a helpful answer. Sometimes, simply asking the model by requesting more info will get you all the help you need!

  • Make sure you have asked a question: Stating a 1 word fact is not a question

Since you problem was submitted, there have been some changes to help simplify asking for help on Fixya.

  1. Click in the "Post Problem" box at the top of most pages.
  2. Fill in your question. - Add as many details as possible as this helps Fixya Experts gather all the information they need to provide a detailed solution to your problem. The more details the better. Without enough details some problems cannot be solved.
  3. Enter your product or category. This helps to direct your question to the most experienced experts who are skilled in certain products or categories.

Can you correct grammar and spelling mistakes in questions on FixYa

We are currently exploring the idea to have experienced FixYa Experts assist us in cleaning up illegible question, however this is not possible at the moment. Upon submitting a question to FixYa users have the option to review their question before it is posted, however some users tend to skip that part.

If you would like to answer a question but do not have sufficient information you could always ask the poster to include more information by adding a comment to the post.

How to up your chances of getting an answer to your "FIXYA" question

When asking your question. Give as much information as possible. I usually try to help out with the computer questions and too too many times I'm left saying to myself "what is this person asking".

A common occurrence is people asking where to get a driver for their computer. That's fine. However, just saying a driver for my Device Model 7893 doesn't really help. To help get an answer include as much information as possible.

When asking for a driver for your device, the main thing to include is what Operating system you are using. Drivers for XP are different than the one for Vista. Same as drivers for Vista are different than drivers for 7.

Also read over your question after you have written it. Chances are if it doesn't make sense to you, it's definitely not going to make sense to the people trying to help.

This is an example of what I consider to be a "bad question"

That's the question, it's filed under Outlook 2003 for PC.

What type of "fil" is it? Were you able to open it before? Are you able to open other files like it. Does it give an error message? What is the error message?

There's just so much information left out that people are just going to look over the question. It's only the very bored person who is going to reply asking for more information on the problem.

On the other side, this is what I would consider to be a "good question":

where can I find the driver for the Farallon SkyLINE Network adapter for Windows Vista or Windows 7 32bit

This user is giving all the information they need to get their problem solved. They are saying what their device is and for what OS they need it for.

Again to repeat myself, when asking a question, give as much information as possible: What Operating System are you using, what version of software is it, when did the problem start happening, what model is it, etc. And also, read over your question to make sure that it makes sense.

You have understood well.
Paying $9.99 you can ask unlimited question to the vast crowd of selected Fixya experts.
Paying $12 you will ask only a single question, but your question will be passed first only to Fixya Top expert.
If the problem is simple, or if you have several questions on different topics, better to purchase the Fixya Unlimited subscription.
If you think that your problem is of more difficult resolution, then better to purchase the $12 single shot question.
Top experts occasionally can also answer the $9.99 questions, but have priority only on $12 ones.
