Question about GE 24 in. Profile PDW7880G Built-in Dishwasher

Water is not getting into the dishwasher

I have replaced the water valve, and checked the float switch.  The problem seems to be no electrical current getting to the valve or the float switch.  This is why the valve won't open.  What do I need to do to get water into the dishwasher.  This is a 7 year old Machine.  There is water in the line going to the dishwasher,  I'm sure this is an electrical issue,  Just not sure what to replace at this time.
Thanks for the help.

Water Inlet Valve

The dishwasher has an electrical water valve called a water inlet valve. If the dishwasher won't fill with water, the water inlet valve might be defective. These valves are not repairable and will have to be replaced.

Float

The float assembly is normally inside the dishwasher near the door on the floor of the dishwasher. If something gets stuck underneath it and holds the float assembly up, the dishwasher won't fill with water. If the float assembly moves freely up and down, the float switch might be defective.

Enter your model number to see parts for your dishwasher.

Float Switch

The float switch is actuated by the float assembly. It is a protection device designed to prevent the dishwasher from overfilling. If the dishwasher won't fill with water, it may be because this float switch is defective or stuck.

Water Supply Problem

The dishwasher is connected to the hot water supply from the house. Check to be sure the household water supply valve is turned on. Over time, calcium deposits can build up in the water supply valve or in the small filter screen inside the water inlet valve. The water supply line may need to be removed from the water inlet valve of the dishwasher, then run some water into a bucket to see if there is enough pressure. Be certain to turn off the water before working on the water line.

Dishwasher not filling

The water float switch, located on the inside bottom of the machine, may be stuck in the up(off) position keeping the water valve from functioning. This is a safety device that turns the water valve off when the machine fills in order to keep it from overflowing.

The water inlet solenoid mounted on the inlet valve under the bottom front may also be malfunctioning not allowing the water valve to open and fill the machine. If electricity is present at the solenoid terminals when the machine is in fill cycle, then check the solenoid coil to see if it is open(no continuity). Also, the timer may not be calling for water/ sending voltage to the inlet valve solenoid.

I would start by manually operating the water float valve a few time to see if that helps. You should hear a microswitch click each time the valve stem is moved up or down by the float. If not, check to see if voltage is getting to the float switch and the water inlet valve solenoid.

Most(if not all) machines have a safety cutoff switch which activates when the door is opened. That switch could also be malfunctioning not allowing voltage to the water inlet valve solenoid in fill cycle.

I have a Neff dishwasher approx 8 years old, F light comes on and no water getting in, looked at the aquastop, undone it , checked the filter and re-conected still not working ??

Hi there,

Well first of all you can check the Water-inlet valve,
the water-inlet valve lets water enter the machine. If this valve is defective, you need to completely replace it. It is usually located behind the lower access panel on the left or right side. It is the device with the main water line (usually copper) from the house, a rubber tube to the dishwasher, and two wires attached to it. Then you can check the Float switch, the float switch is a small electrical switch that's located right below the dishwasher "floor." Above the switch, on the inside of the dishwasher, is a plastic cylinder that floats up as water fills the dishwasher. If this switch is defective, or if the plastic float gets caught or trapped in the raised position, the water can't enter the dishwasher. If the float switch is defective, you need to replace it. Post comments if you need more help or information............

Good Luck!!

Thanks

When the dishwasher is nopt getting water into the machine, it means that either the floating sensor is stuck, or the water inlet valve is obstructed or defective.
