HK DPR 2005 is shutting off by itself after running for about 5 seconds

My HK DPR 2005 is shutting off by itself after running for about 5 seconds. I plugged my phone to the CD input, as I had done many times before, and I must have shorted something out. could this be something easy to fix?

When you connect any device you should always have the power off. if you connect while power is on you will blow that input up after time. sorry for the bad news

SOURCE: I have a HK

This means it's going into protection mode. If you have speakers hooked up I would try disconnecting all the speakers and see if the problem persists. If so there is an internal problem that would need to be repaired by a professional. Being that this is only a pro logic receiver if you look on craigslist or ebay. You could most likely find a used receiver in your area for much cheaper then the cost of repair. I've seen great receivers for as little as 50-100$ on craigslist.
Thanks,
Lee

SOURCE: My HK DPR 2005 has

This is caused by the instability of the control processor - it just executes commands that noone gave. It's a quite common problem and it's caused by the aging of the filtering capacitors - the parts that are supposed to stabilize the functioning of the other components. The aging of the capacitors is reduced when they are kept powered for longer - the fact that the receiver has been rarely used has accelerated the aging process.
Yes it's quite easy to fix - all you need to do is to replace some of the old capacitors and add some new ones on top of the other. the replacement capacitor are cheap - less than $25 for all of them. The job is very simple but it's time consuming so the labor will be great (over 3 hours) and because of that quite expensive. Shop around for a repair shop that will fix it on the cheap.
In any case it will be cheaper than getting a brand new one - but if you can find a deal don't hesitate to replace it.

How to connect a Nakamichi CMS-5 Compact Music System with Harman Kardon BDS 277

There's not a lot of info on the web about the specs and sockets on a Nak CMS-5 or the RE-5 reveiver that's part of the system. So some of this is based on the tiny fragment of information you provided.

The HK BDS277 has no outputs, only inputs. So however you decide to connect, the only way that things will work is if sound signals come from the Nak and go to the HK so that the sound comes from the HK speakers.

If the Nak has processor sockets as you have half suggested, then they act as a break point between the NAK pre-amp which does source selection and the Nak power amp that provides the muscle to drive the Nak speakers. Disconnecting the links from Processor Out/Processor In with interrupt the signal flow. You'll then be able to connect Nak Processor Out to one of the line inputs on the HK.

Any sources already connected to the Nak will then have their signals routed to the HK. The Nak speakers will be silent.

I hope this helps.

Mitsubishi big screet HDTV after being on for a minute, the scree pops and goes black with some red lines, then the volume turns all the way up by itself.

Do the self check----if set has been unplugged plug it in and turn on for it to fail----when it shuts off ON THE FRONT OF THE SET press and hold both the menu and input (device) buttons at same time for at least 5 seconds and release both.

Power light will blink a two digit error code like, 1 blink, 2 blinks and pause and repeat it for a total of 5 times.

What if any error code do you find?

CHECK IC101 AND IC102 THESE ARE THE + AND - 15VOLT REGULATORS. iF THEY ARE OFF BY MORE THEN 3 VOLTS IT WILL SHUT THE UNIT DOWN/IC101 IS THE +15V AND IC102 IS THE -15V IF THESE VOLTAGES ARE GOOD THEN THE UNIT IS GOING IN TO THE PROTECT MODE AND YOU WILL HAVE SHORTED OUTPUT TRANSISTORS. I HOPE THIS HELPS YOU.
