Question about Harman Kardon DPR 2005 Receiver
My HK DPR 2005 is shutting off by itself after running for about 5 seconds. I plugged my phone to the CD input, as I had done many times before, and I must have shorted something out. could this be something easy to fix?

Sounds like a bad output channel is causing it to go into protect mode. Time to see a repair tech.

5 amp "slow blow" fuse where power cord connects to amplifier has probably blown. 9 screws holds the cover on, remove them and check fuse.

CHECK YOUR WIRING!!! I have had problems from time to time, generally after re-arranging, and have found speaker wires slightly touching on 1 channel caused my AVR to give similar problems. GOOD LUCK!!!

SOURCE: When I go to power
Depending on your ablilities there might be a quick fix. It sounds like the contacts in your on/off switch are either corroded or worn out due to heat. Ensure the unit is unplugged from any electrical source. By opening up the unit you will have to detach the on/off switch, and by bending the prongs carefully, open the casing up. Clean all internal part using contact cleaner. If the contacts are worn or corroded, you can try replacing or what I did was added some solder to the contacts and put the unit back together reversing my steps.

Hello, I didn't end up fixing the Blu-ray issue, but the TV issue was caused by just inverting the positive and negative cable going into my speaker. Odd enough, instead of just not working, it just flipped the entire system off. I can definitely see that that could be the issue, another one I thought of is, at the time I didn't realize that DVI doesn't play audio, only video and I didn't have a optical cable connected. I decided to avoid the hassle, sell the TV and purchased one that has HDMI. Muuuuch better.
