Check on the Dell site == it may be possible to 'boot' the Dell BIOS update utility direct from a USB stick even if nothing else is working ....

You can't. The mother board is now dead. You will need a new bios chip.

Gateway 504gr bios update failed

You maybe using the wrong version, it's already updated, or simply can not be upgraded.
Unless there is a TRUE need to flash, and usually there is not, I would stay away from. So many people try and fail, only to wipe the CMOS, leaving the system useless. Here is some sound advice on the subject.

Changed out the motherboard reformatted a blank hardrive, No issues in the reformat.Installed drivers then updated the bios.Currently will only boot to bios briefly then shuts down.Tried resetting the bios...

Sounds like your BIOS update did not complete successfully. Head to the board manufacturers website and check if there is some way you can reload the BIOS and recover from this. Most boards now have dual bios which means that if one bios chip fails or an update fails, you can reload the stored BIOS through the other chip. If you are unable to recover from a failed BIOS update, you may need to purchase a replacement BIOS chip from the board manufacturer. You may even be able to reload the original BIOS onto the chip through your local PC repair store so give them a call and enquire..

I was given an L500. It powers but fails to POST, this happened after a recommended BIOS update. Any kind of debug ports or something to sort this out?

After a BIOS update, if it fails to post, the BIOS update got corrupted. This happens (rarely) and when it does, the only thing that can be done is to remove the BIOS chip and have it burned at a local repair shop (or sent into Toshiba for a replacement). Without the BIOS functioning properly, the computer can do nothing at all. If your BIOS is not on a removable chip, then the computer will have to be sent to Toshiba to have the BIOS replaced.

Will not power up after failed bios update

If the BIOS update failed it could have damaged the CMOS chip & may not be repairable without a new CMOS chip.

your bios is not updated properly. try again. make sure there is no power problem while updating. update bios from sis official site only.
but i dint understand wheather u already updated n the after updating its not working or u r planning to update. if u r planning to update then see that the ata cable is connected to motherboard. set first boot device as cd rom. then check if it fails go for bios update.
