Dead sensor on a PaceMaster SX-PRO treadmill

I know this is an old question and the company that made this brand has gone bankrupt, but for what it's worth, if anybody happens to have one of these still and you're getting that dead sensor error message I have a workaround. It's not a fix -- just a workaround, but it will at least let you get some use out of the machine. There are a couple service modes available that will let you bypass the speed sensor. One lets you adjust the incline, the other lets you adjust the speed (in terms of percentage of motor output).

Incline Test Mode -- Press and hold UP and SELECT while inserting the magnetic safety key. Release both buttons when you see the dotted lines. Use UP and DOWN to adjust to your preferred incline.

PWM Test Mode -- Press and hold SLOWER and SELECT while inserting the magnetic safety key. Release both buttons and hit the START button. Use FASTER and SLOWER buttons to adjust the power being fed to the motor. Actual speed will appear in the speed window while the percentage of power will be in the distance window.

The dead sensor error is caused by (usually) a bad speed sensor. It's a little sensor attached to one of the circuit boards facing a shiny wheel attached to the motor next to the flywheel. The shiny wheel has little black pinstripes, which the sensor reads as the wheel turns. The sensor needs to be about 3/16 of an inch away from the wheel. There are 2 screws attaching the circuit board which can be loosened to adjust this distance. I don't think the sensor can be changed; you'd need to swap out that whole circuit board, and I don't think they're still available.

Ive got a sigma sport 300 and need to know how far away from the centre of the wheel the magnet goes so that my speed reading is correct thanx

You can place it wherever on the spoke you like, as long as the distance is less than 5mm between the magnet and the sensor.

Stamina 15-1306 is not recording time, miles, calories, etc. Brand new.

The magnet located inside the right lower cover, which is attached to sensor wire needs adjusted. Just move it a little closer to Large sprocket which turns with the chain. Worked for me.

Unit is measuring cadence and heart rate, but is not measuring speed, distance or ride time.

Check to make sure your speed/ distance sensor is in alignment with your wheel magnet. If it is then check the battery in the sensor.

Speed and distance are on a different sensor than the cadence.

Speed and distance are not displayed.

(Touch a metal item against two contact points of the computer several times to create a short circuit while observing the display. If a numeric value appears, this signifies that the computer is functioning normally.)

Is the clearance between the sensor and magnet too great?

Does the magnet pass through the sensor line?

Adjust the positions of the magnet and sensor.

I have a Cat Eye Strada cycling computer model CC-RD200 that I have been using for the last couple of months. This model comes with a cadence sensor (as well as a speed sensor) that I cannot get to work. I...

It sounds like you know what's wrong - distance. Take the magnet in your hand and wave it past the cadence sensor to see if THAT works.

As far as why your crankarm and chainstay are too far apart, well, maybe your bottom bracket is too long or something, but it is mostly beyond the scope of anyone who can't see it to judge. Take it to a bike shop and ask them.

I just tried my Stamina e-1000 eliptical for the first time. The electronic monitor comes on but doesn't do anything. It just reads zero. Any suggestion? Thank you.

Check the upper console to see if you have a loose connections and one of them is the speed sensor connection , if all connections are good then it looks like the sensor itself inside the main casing by the flywheel

Stamina/Speed switch not working on VGN-SZ484N

It depends on the game. And how detailed the game is. like basket ball vrs. mario you know. differen't graphics differen't speeds. Some time you can adjust the speed on the game which will in turn force the speed of the graphics card.
