How to unlock a partition on a flash drive

Hidden partitions on hard drives and USB flash drives store files, recovery and utility software. Many personal computer manufacturers use a hidden partition for the recovery software and no longer ship software CDs. Some people use hidden partitions to store files, which contain sensitive, illegal or private data. Since most USB flash drives are marked with the drive , you can check for differences between this marking and the capacity reported for the drive. A Any significant disparity may indicate the presence of a hidden partition.

Log on to the computer as an administrative user. Click the "Start" button. Select "Control Panel." Double-click the "Administrative Tools" icon. Open "Computer Management." Click on the "+" beside "Storage." Select "Disk Management." The hidden partitions do not have drive letter assignments and are shown in the "Disk 1" or "Disk 2" areas. The "Disk 0" area is usually used by your boot drive or the C:/ drive. A read-only partition on a flash drive may show up in the "CD-Rom" area. Step 4. Right-click on the hidden partition. Choose "Change Drive Letter and Paths." Click "Add." Select a drive letter to use. Click "OK." Click on the red "X" in the upper right corner of the "Computer Management" window to close it. Double-click on "My Computer" on the desktop. Double-click on the drive letter you selected in Step 4 to open the drive and view the files. Hope this helps.

Hi usually data do not be recover from dead flash drive but please try this option:
  • Be prepared beforehand

Installing any software after data loss will increase the risk of the lost data being overwritten. A recovery program installed now is good insurance for your data.

Free recovery software. There are many good free recovery programs out there. Installing one now may be the difference in keeping and loosing valuable data.

    Commercial recovery software

Commercial recovery software will increase the chances of recovering important data. It's not free but can be well worth the price.
  • Step 2What to do

Use your system as little as possible until you recover all of your lost files.

The more activity taking place on your hard diskmag-glass_10x10.gif, the greater chance that some of your lost data will be over written. If you are trying to recover files from a media card, stop using that card immediately.

If i am right, your Flash is infected by virus and so files or folders are hidden, to unhide the hidden files and folders, you need to do a little trick or simple as the settings. Here we go.. Insert the flash drive - Open it in Windows Explorer - Click on the Tools on the Menu - Select Folder options - Click on the View Tab - next scroll down and select the Show Hidden Files - and again just below the show hidden files, you will see another option which is checked Hide Protected Operating Files, uncheck it and click yes. Hope this will help you, if you can follow this tip, please refer to my tip Show Hidden Files and Folder_1. Good luck..

My computer recognizes that I have 1.8 GB left on the disk but when I try to download songs it claims that the disk if full. What do I do?

Good day sir/maam, hi, your SD card may be infected by a virus that wont allow anymore software or files to be stored on the disk, run a virus scan on your PC, there is an easy way to check if your PC is infected, to check, on the my computer menu bar click tools, folder options, view, select show hidden files and folder, then apply, close the window, Now go back to the folder option, view and check the show hidden files, its changed. and goes back to not show hidden files. If this happens, download AVG anti virus and scan your computer.
