Mate.Before you let ANYONE pull the engine apart,get the timing checked.I am only going on your description but it sound like the motor is "knocking".It means the timing is wrong and is a cheap fix.Hope this helps
If you hear unusual noises during dishwasher operation, check to see if
a dish or cup is loose and being knocked around during the wash cycle.
If you hear grinding, grating, crunching or a buzzing sound, chances
are a hard object has gone into the wash module. Once the object is
ground up, the noises should cease.
Typically that sound would be your hard drive or CD drive. If you don't have a CD in your drive, your hard drive is probably working overtime. You may have Spyware or Malware that's creating a problem. So, download, install and run SpyBot and Malwarebytes to see if problem is resolved. If still the sound, your hard drive may be failing.
