How do I turn flash on and off?

The multi selector is the round control on the rear of the camera with the OK button in its center.
The flash mode button is the top button on the selector, it has a lightning flash icon.

Press the flash mode button on the multi selector.
Highlight the desired mode and press the center of the multi selector.

The flash modes are:
AUTO; Flash fires automatically when lighting is poor.
AUTO WITH RED-EYE REDUCTION; Reduces "red eye" in portraits.
OFF; Flash will not fire even when lighting is poor.
FILL FLASH; Flash fires whenever picture is taken. Use to "fill-in" (illuminate) shadows and back-lit subjects.
SLOW SYNC; Flash illuminates mainsubject; slow shutter speeds are used to capture background at night or under dim light

The selected flash mode icon appears at the top of the monitor.

Red hand blinking

This probably indicates that the selected shutter speed is too slow for hand-holding, and any images may suffer from camera shake. You can increase the shutter speed (maybe by selecting a higher ISO setting), use a support (a monopod or a tripod), or use flash.

Blurred pictures, and Red hand Flashing warning

The red hand is warning you that the shutter speed is too slow for handholding. Your pictures are coming out blurred because the camera is moving during the relatively lengthy exposure.

Put the camera on a tripod or other stable surface, and/or use the flash.

Red hand blinks on screen upper right side. how do i deleet this problem. nikon coolpix 7500.

The red hand icon flashing shows that the camera is using a slow shutter speed, and is a warning to be careful to hold the camera steady.

You could put the flash in auto mode and it will fire when the light is low.

The flashing red light is warning you that the shutter speed will be too long for handholding the camera. Put the camera on a tripod or other stable surface, and/or use the flash.

Is there anyway to resolve shutter lag on the Nikon Coolpix 8700?

oh what mode is your camera in? auto- adjust your Iso it is too bright or dark for your current setting
c1-(manual) change your f-stop and Iso. set the iso to 200 and move the F-stop to any number and test the speed.
c2-same as c1

If you need further clarification write back i'd love to help!
