Tatarian Maple leaves growing out of trunk, should I remove those branches or buches clear from the ground up as that is how they are growing?

G'day Patti, unless you want to look beyond the tree it would be advisable to leave the lower leaves and branches. The lower branches hide little critters from big critters. Cheers Greg.

I have a 15-20 ft. pine tree. We recently trimmed alot off the bottom of it and now the healthy branches on the tree are turning brown. Is my tree dying?

Pine trees seal themselves with sap fairly quick so you don't have to worry. If the needles are turning yellow and dropping it could be experiencing some shock or it may just be dropping needles for the fall.
If the needles are actually turning brown, check the trunk and branches for signs of boring insect damage such as hole with sap coming out.

Does pruning bottom branches on Magnolia tree do any harm?

Quick answer no. You must adhere to several rules. Correctly prune at the collar. Never prune when the branches are wet. Make sure tool blades are clean and this tree should be trimmed in the late winter.

Pine tree diseases such as rust check. could i see.

Could be wind-burn. Some tree's don't like the wind as it dries out moisture in the needles. Move the plant or plant protective shrubs around it.

Why is my plum tree leaves are turning silver, how do I treat this?

I can only direct you the results of my search for 'PLUM TREE LEAVES SILVER' on the internet (AltaVista/Yahoo). Some pointed to for example
1. http://www.telegraph.co.uk/gardening/6205476/How-to-identify-silver-leaf-disease.html
2. http://www.which.co.uk/documents/pdf/silver-leaf-disease-153706.pdf
3. http://www.growsonyou.com/question/show/1213-plum-tree-silver-leaf-disease
These only the first three results of my search, I hope they are of some use. This seems to be a well known condition. Other similar searches using different search engines will throw up different results in a different order. I suggest you take a look at someof them, because personally I don't know the answer to your question

What can I do about the cherry tree I have that is losing leaves one branch at a time and is dripping with a dark red sap like substance. How can a fix it?

First thing to do is check for insects. You may need a magnification glass. Look for spider webs on it. These are caused by aphids though, not spiders. If you find them, you need to spray with an insecticide that does not poison any fruit. You can use soapy water too and or cedar oil to get rid of aphids. Other diseases of cherry trees include fungal and bacterial infections. These are harder to treat.

My tree is about five or six inches tall and has three major braches that spread very wide compared to the height. one of the three major branches is getting longer than the other two. should I trim it?

This is an old post, but I didn't see any replys, so I decided to answer. Trees are pruned to help it obtain and maintain a desirable shape and to help it to make more branches and become fuller.

With that in mind, if you have one branch that is out of shape, by all means you can prune it. I would cut it just above a bud node. That takes the "vertical" growth away from that branch and forces the rest of that branch to grow "out" not "up" by making more lateral branches and become fuller.
