Removing blower motor

tap the fan on the shaft just a bit then clean the shaft with sand paper then carefully pull and rotate the fan off of the motor shaft = lock the motors rotor in a vice this make it a easy job. BUT don't damage the fan ! if it feels like it's not going to come off STOP. and search for you local electric motor repair shop with free testing. and ask him to pull it off fer ya, ask him how to oil this motor so you don't go threw this again. ?

Faulty switch for the lights? Measure the voltage in the lamp sockets - if you don;t know how, find someone with electrical experience to check it out.

Will not turn on

Hi
Your kitchen aid hood is not turning on due to a blown fuse or a faulty slide switch. Please check part#21 (Thermal fuse)---

Part#5 is the Sliding switch, if fuse is fine then replace this switch. Hope this helps... Please post back if you need more information. Daniel

The unit says it is ventless yet it talks about venting into the soffitt. We have no soffitt. Do we close off both opening and thenit will recirculate?

In order for a ventless exhaust fan to function it needs to have the exterior vent opening closed off and it should then recirculate the filtered air.

Which is the best pop up down draft vent system? Do you have any reviews?

I wish I could offer some help but I am trying to solve the same question. There are almost NO reviews out there on the internet for any downdraft vents. There are also NO noise ratings on the fans (though ceiling fans all have ratings). It would seem that the taller the vent, the better positioned it is to draw off cooking fumes but other than that and the power of the motor (and perhaps ease of cleaning), I've no idea how to select a unit. HELP!

wow! finally the solution that works! Holding the '+' sign for 4 seconds. We had our vent replaced by kitchenaid once and were about to call again and complain since our new one did just the same thing without resolution using the 'H' button as indicated in the manual! Thanks for help it's so appreciated!

Removing the fan

most fans dont come out. but it is not hard to take the hood down. there are most likly four screws in the top going down into the hood. undo them, making sure the hood is proped up. them is should just lift out of the backing plate and there is your bird. to put it back up just put it back on the backing plate then put the bults back in and make sure the vent is on properly.
