Question about Viking Ovens
The descriptive text on the front of the oven is partially worn off, is there any way to replace it? Not the knobs, but the metal plate surrounding the knobs. Words like 'temperature' are partially worn away.

A 6ya expert can help you resolve that issue over the phone in a minute or two.
Best thing about this new service is that you are never placed on hold and get to talk to real repairmen in the US.
The service is completely free and covers almost anything you can think of (from cars to computers, handyman, and even drones).
click here to download the app (for users in the US for now) and get all the help you need.

There are two controls for the top oven and grill.
The far left one is purely for the oven and oven lights. The middle control of the three on the panel is for the grill. The grill will only work when the front is down, there is a micro switch that controls this.
The grill control is a dual action control. Turn it one way and it is the full grill, turn it the other and it is only the inner element. Left is the small grill, right is the larger, full grill. Oven lights do not come on with the grill control, you have to turn the lights on with the oven control.
The oven has a small element so takes a long time to heat up.
If you need a copy of the handbook, supply an email address and you can have access to my BT digital vault where a copy is stored.

If you go any hardware store (Lowe's, Home Depot) they have universal knob replacement kits. Take your old knob with you and ask for help from someone who looks like they know something (the old guy). Its so much cheaper this way, exact replacement knobs can run $20 or more each. Good luck!!

There are really only 3 options:
1. Replace the fascia panel
2. Print a diagram of the fascia panel and keep it near the oven for reference.
3. Re-mark the numbers and symbols on the control panel manually!
Option 3 would look awful and I think it's a non-starter. Replacing the fascia panel wont be cheap but I should be able to find the part number and suppliers for you if required. I will need to know your location for this. I can also provide instructions for replacing it.
Personally, if it was my oven, I would take the simplest and cheapest option, which is to keep a diagram of the oven controls near the oven for reference. I've uploaded the diagrams of the controls to Flickr as images posted on these pages tend to be a little on the small side.
I'm 99% certain these are from the 251B, but if they don't relate to your model, please let me know.
You can't download these images from Flickr. I have simply put them there for you to determine whether this option will be of any use to you. If you decide on this option, I can email the files to you or upload them somewhere else where you can download from. You will then be able to print them.
Hope this helps. If you decide you would like to replace the control panel, please let me know your location. You can reply to me by clicking on "Add a Comment" below your question.
