The controller puts out fault codes though the LEDs. Count them and then look in the operators manual for likely causes. In my experience it is the electronic brakes that fail on these units and they are costly.

You can visit this website to find answers on what the flashing trouble indicator lights mean: http://www.pgdt.com/scenter/diagnostics/diagvsi.html
Locate the page that has the controller used on your power chair/scooter and count how many lights are flashing to diagnose the trouble. If your insurance purchased the power chair for you, they may also cover the repairs; contact them for information.

SOURCE: i have oil leaking onto the left side tire of my

Sounds like you have a blown seal on your left gearbox. The only permanent solution is to replace the left brake/motor gearbox assembly. Not exactly a do-it-yourself repair. to verify, you can pull the seat off to inspect with a flashlight or tip the chair up at 45 degrees on the right drive wheel to inspect.
In my experience this is a common problem. It may take some time for enough gearbox grease to ooze out and cause the gearbox to fail. If you run the chair inside the house it will get messy very quickly and the grease stains are difficult to remove. If the chair is upwards of 4 or 5 years consider replacing left and right motor/gearbox assemblies. Hope this helps.

How do I reprogram my invacare pronto m51power chair

You will need to contact a service tech in your area to do this. They should have a special programmer box that can adjust the settings on the chair to improve the chairs performance.

My M41 invacare controller keeps flashing and it flashes 5 times. I don't understand what the fix for this.

If your M41 has the mark V controller that is seen pictured in the stock photo you provided, the 5 flash code is a left park brake fault.
1. Turn off the chair.
2.Disengage the left motor (levers are located in front under the seat) roll the chair back and forth and re-engage the left motor.
3. Engage the left motor.
4. Turn on chair.

If you happen to have the older Mark IV controller (has a toggle switch to turn on/off and three battery lights), the 5 flash code means the chair is receiving high or low voltage from the batteries. I would recommend having the batteries checked.

If the chair stops flashing, you are good to go. If the chair is still flashing, you will need to contact a technician to possibly replace the left brake. I recommend Repair Xpress FixMyPWC com Nationwide service and delivery solution for power...

Pronto m41 moves slow at all times

If you have a seat lift on your chair, you will have to lower the seat lift. This is call limp mode so the chair does not move to fast and tip over while the person is in the chair. If this is not the case, then your chair controller may be over heating and it will also cause the chair to go into limp mode. this is a better option than totally stopping. the way to correct this is to let the chair sit and "cool down" for a little while. It usually takes about 30 minutes, sometimes less in cooler environments to get the chair back to normal use. If neither are the solution, then you have a problem with the chair that causes the controller to reduce the output. You will need to get an authorized Tech to check the chair out to determine the root cause.

Left Brake fault

hi, Please check the lead and the fitting to the controller, it 's rare for the controller to have this problem, I have repaired that very fault recently and it was a high resistance cable fault , now measure the brake cable from the controller , disconnect cable and put the electrical meter on the lowest ohms reading, now it should read from 0.4 to 1.0 ohms any more and that's what causing the problem.

Do not know if chair is taking a charge lights just keep moving across armrest .how do u tell when fully charged?

hi let me see if i can help ,

When the lights go back and forth on your joystick that means the chair knows its pluged in .Now the chair itself has a built in charger that is mounted on the back of your chair .The back of the chair ,there is a opening a cutout in the frame .when you plug in your chair there will be a red light and a yellow ,yellow means the chair is charging, wait till it turns green, this means fully charged. When you plug in the chair youll see the lights through that hole.Look for the lights.

I recommend my customers to leave there chair charging over night look at the light it will be green when you turn the chair on the joystick should show fully charge.

Good luck hope i was of some help.

I was trying to get my chair up a sidewalk and it was runnig find and all of a sudden it just stopped.

If it was a steep uphill climb and hot weather, the controller will sense an overheat and shut the chair down to prevent frying a motor. Let the chair cool off for several minutes, and then proceed slowly to prevent a recurrence. If you are close to the weight capacity of the chair, going up hills really tax the motors so you need to take your time, go slowly, and stop occassionally to let them cool off if it is a long grade.

Also, most chairs have a tilt sensor in them that will cut the power if the chair is too inclined. Getting it level again, turning off and restarting after a few seconds should do the trick.
