- Is is a PITA to remove the back panel? Is it just a matter of removing the screws? Is the back of the front panel easily accessible once i get the back off?
Any info anyone can provide will be greatly appreciated!!
thanx in advance!

- OK, got the tray out, but i have nothing to de-solder the switch. Can i just take it out i.e. carefully break it off the board?

- YOu mean the serial# of the TV? How much of a PITA is reaplcing the switch? Since i removed the other switch, i would think the problem is something deeper than the switch.

- Thanx for the help, but i'm guessing this would involve soldered the new switches in correct? I think i may just buy a new TV and be done with it.
Again, thanx for yur help!!
I will see what I can find. I do have a solution though. Unsolder the switch and if you have to get into the menue use the remote control. The set will work fine without the switch. It is unbelievable that these switches are nla but is does happen and way too often. If I am able to come up with something I will let you know if you kick back a response.
Hope this helps,

- The back come off pretty easy removing approx 10 screws. Once the back is off, pull the chassi out, ( there may be two screws toward the back tray that hold the chassi, two screws hold the front panel board in place, once removed it's all down hill from there. Remove switch, and reassemble.

- If you can cut the legs with a pair of wire cutters do it.

- I have good news, I found that the switch you were looking for has had two succeeding part numbers. The last being 23355507. And I have comfirmed it is available. You can obtain it through Encompass Elect. at 800-638-3328.
Hope you can finally get this thing fixed up.

- Let me have the serial #and I will see what I can find out.

- I do have contacts but they cannot help me without Serial # and Model # information off the back of the set. One last piece of information I need is as follows. Turn the set on and unplug the AC cord. Then disconnect the plug connector for the front panel switch board from the main board. Plug the set back on and see if the menu pops up. Let me know what you find.

- I wanted to give you a update. Your problem is a switch on that board. It does not have to be the Menu button obviousely. But depending on which switch and how leakey it is can determin what on-screen display shows up. You must replace all the switches to fix the problem per inside info I got from Tosh. Tech Dept.
The part #'s I gave you should do the job.
I hope this will put this one to bed.

This WAS happening imtermittently, 'til NOW. I've replaced the remote and changed the batteries, and "most" of the time it performed OK, for the first week, affter I replaced the remote (w/new batteries). I can perform all of the functions via the front TV panel, but NOT with the remote. I went to the TOSHIBA web-site support, and "it" asked me: "Is the remote reset procedure accurate?" I cannot find anyplace in the manual "where" the remote 'reset procedure' and it's 'accuracy' is mentioned/explained. 'Might be my problem? 'HOPE SO! HELP!
