Is is a PITA to remove the back panel? Is it just a matter of removing the screws? Is the back of the front panel easily accessible once i get the back off?

Any info anyone can provide will be greatly appreciated!!

    thanx in advance!

  • Donavan C Jun 23, 2009

OK, got the tray out, but i have nothing to de-solder the switch. Can i just take it out i.e. carefully break it off the board?

  • Donavan C Jun 23, 2009

cut the legs, fired everything back up and the damn menu still keeps popping up!!! I dont know what else to do!!

    what else can i try????

  • Donavan C Jun 29, 2009

YOu mean the serial# of the TV? How much of a PITA is reaplcing the switch? Since i removed the other switch, i would think the problem is something deeper than the switch.

  • Donavan C Jul 02, 2009

Thanx for the help, but i'm guessing this would involve soldered the new switches in correct? I think i may just buy a new TV and be done with it.

    Again, thanx for yur help!!

I will see what I can find. I do have a solution though. Unsolder the switch and if you have to get into the menue use the remote control. The set will work fine without the switch. It is unbelievable that these switches are nla but is does happen and way too often. If I am able to come up with something I will let you know if you kick back a response.
Hope this helps,

The back come off pretty easy removing approx 10 screws. Once the back is off, pull the chassi out, ( there may be two screws toward the back tray that hold the chassi, two screws hold the front panel board in place, once removed it's all down hill from there. Remove switch, and reassemble.

If you can cut the legs with a pair of wire cutters do it.

  • Steve Yocum Jun 24, 2009

I have good news, I found that the switch you were looking for has had two succeeding part numbers. The last being 23355507. And I have comfirmed it is available. You can obtain it through Encompass Elect. at 800-638-3328.

Hope you can finally get this thing fixed up.

Let me have the serial #and I will see what I can find out.

  • Steve Yocum Jun 30, 2009

I do have contacts but they cannot help me without Serial # and Model # information off the back of the set. One last piece of information I need is as follows. Turn the set on and unplug the AC cord. Then disconnect the plug connector for the front panel switch board from the main board. Plug the set back on and see if the menu pops up. Let me know what you find.

I wanted to give you a update. Your problem is a switch on that board. It does not have to be the Menu button obviousely. But depending on which switch and how leakey it is can determin what on-screen display shows up. You must replace all the switches to fix the problem per inside info I got from Tosh. Tech Dept.

The part #'s I gave you should do the job.

I hope this will put this one to bed.

How do I remove unwanted pop ups?

Internet pop-ups can be an annoyance. These windows are usually associated with different forms of advertisements and at times can include viruses that can infect the computer. Pop-ups do not have to be a part of computer use if the user does not desire this distraction. There are ways to stop pop-ups and prevent them from appearing unless desired. Pop-up blocker allows the user to block these items and select which items to allow.

Open Internet Explorer. Click "Tools" from the menu bar. Tools can be found on the bar that lists "File, Edit, View, Favorites, Tools, Help" directly beneath the address bar. Click "Internet Options" from the "Tools" menu. Click the "Privacy" tab in the "Internet Options" box. Click to check the box that says "Turn on pop-up blocker" in the "Pop-up Blocker" section of the menu. Click "Apply" to save changes. Click "OK" to close the "Internet Options" box. The computer will now block all pop-ups from websites. If downloading items from the Web, the computer will ask whether you would like to allow these items to be opened. Hope this helps.

Chances are that the composite inputs are not selected in the settings. You need a display connected to the MONITOR output to see what you're doing. Then press the SCREEN button (just below the RECORDER readout) until "Menu" lights up next to it. Then press the large round wheel in while keeping the MENU button depressed - this will bring up the menu settings on the monitor. Then press the MENU button in the "Dial Menu" section - while keeping it pressed, rotate the large round knob until "Setup Item 101" appears in the display- this is the Video Input Select area.

Release the MENU button to select Item 101 - then press the DATA button while rotating the large round knob until S-V changes to V (going from S-Video to Composite ). When you've reached the desired setting, press the SET button to store it in memory. Keep in mind that you have to do this on P1, P2, R and/or AUX depending on which channels you want to change. The factory default is S-Video, so that is probably how the machine is set on each channel. When you've finished setting the channels to your preference, press the SCREEN button to exit the menu.

I've found that the $20 (or so) investment on one of the many manual sites pays for itself many times over in "frustration control". I can attest that is quite trustworthy, and in most cases you can download and print the manual immediately. The sites that offer "free manuals" are more trouble than they're worth as you have to download all kinds of crap you don't need, and they pop up when you don't want them to and slow down your computer. Volume go up to MAX, power button does not work

To all of you, change the tact switches (all of them) on the front panel control board and end of problem, very common problem, part number for these switches is 23344443, any or several will become "leaky" and give all sorts of symptoms, MANY times this is caused by using windex or similiar type cleaners, it gets into the switches and corrupts them, this will fix-ya, BMW Rider
