Heat majority of the time. I'd blow out the system with some compressed air before sending it in, otherwise they'll claim that as the cause and bye bye warranty.

PS3 get green/white lines and may scramble the images on games every couplf os seconds. Happens to Both Disc games and games on the hardrive. HOME is out of wack too. Store seemed to be OK.

One possible fix is to put the ps3 into recovery mode and formating the drive. WARNING: YOU WILL LOSE ALL SAVE DATA, MAKE SURE YOU BACK UP YOUR DATA FIRST. A video tutorial can be found here (http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=yZWye1CLTVo)
If that doesn't wor kthen there is a problem with the GPU (Graphic Processing Unit) possibly caused by overheating. If your ps3 is still under warranty I would suggest sending it to Sony for repairs, if it is not under warranty then it will cost you $150 to send it in for repairs.

Error 1022 1 red

Hardware Error - HSIO related, could be crc error, or many things: There is high chance it's a scaler chip problem (the "ANA" or "HANA" chip near the AV cable connection) it can also be caused by a faulty AV cable so check that first. Microsoft covers this error under their 3-year warranty, this is availble to anyone who hasn't modified their console. contact MS to get a free replacement console before attempting to fix this yourself. Failing that this error In some cases it is a problem with the GPU and may be repairable by doing the x-clamp replacement.
Error in the "Digital Backbone" (CPU/GPU/RAM), this is usually caused by a cold solder joint between the GPU and the mainboard.
There are two theories to fixing this one deals with the "X" clamps that hold down the chips. The other involves re-Heating the chips. DO NOT attempt either of these if your console is still under warranty. If your console is still under warranty return it to the store where it was purchased or call MS to have it replaced.

3 red lights on the front of my x box 360

This can be caused by dust buildup in the unit, causing the unit to overheat. Once the unit overheats it causes solder on the board to bridge (connect). Check with microsoft to see if this unit is still under warranty with this site: http://support.xbox.com/support/en/us/nxe/LiveIDSignIn.aspx?redirectUrl=http://support.xbox.com/support/en/us/nxe/registerdevice.aspx?step=repair

If the unit is not under warranty go to: www.wiredextreme.com. We are a console repair company based out of Dallas, Tx. We can get your console up and running. All of our repairs come with a 90 day warranty for the whole console, not just what we repair. We also offer extended warranties for up to 4 years at an additional cost.

Green light on with sound but no picture

Hi Helen

This is comon problem. with 2006 units.
The cause is one of the chips (G.P.U.)
has been running hot for years and has
de-solder itself from the main board .

The proper repair is have the G.P.U.
re-flowed and properly clamp to the
main P.C. board . This will fix the problem.

Cost is about 80.00 .
If it's under the 3 year warranty send it
in to Microsoft for a replacement . Add 2
mouth to the manufacture date to see
if your still in the 3 year time frame

I hope that was a little helpfull?

When turning on one red light comming on and saying system error

Yes 1 red ,3 red ,system error...
All or at least 99.9% of most hardware failures are
caused by the G.P.U getting very hot and de-soldering
itself from the P.C. board

So what can you do about it ?
Send it in to M.S. for repair ,if its under warranty.
xclamp mod it ,that will get it working for a little while.
or what I do is straighten the P.C. board and re-flow
the G.P.U and C.P.U. this will fix the problem completely.

That's it

Error e74 on XBOX

E74 - There is high chance it's a scaler chip problem (the "ANA" or "HANA" chip near the AV cable connection) it can also be caused by a faulty AV cable so check that first. In some cases it is a problem with the GPU and may be repairable by doing the x-clamp replacement (see 0102 below).

0102 - Error in the "Digital Backbone" (CPU/GPU/RAM), this is usually caused by a cold solder joint between the GPU and the mainboard. There are two theories to fixing this. One deals with the "X" clamps that hold down the chips. The other involves re-Heating the chips.

DO NOT attempt either of these, if your console is still under warranty. If your console is still under warranty, return it to the store where it was purchased or call Microsoft to have it replaced.
