SOURCE: remove suction motor on rainbow vacuum

Take off the water tank, remove the screw, should be four, that will separate the 2 pieces, remove the rubber seal, remove the screws, 8 If I remember, disconnect the wires to the motor, it should pull out. Replace motor, hook up the wires, screw it back together, glue the water seal back on.

SOURCE: Replace on/off power switch for BUC11700UC vacuum cleaner

Bryanv

Thank you for and excellent solution. I have several suggestions:

1) After removing the 11 screws as directed, I was unable to remove the handle. However, I was able to sneak in and remove the one screw that holds the top front thingy. I should warn you that it is easy to break the tab at the switch end of the front thingy. It was zip wired to the handle. (How do I know, I'll let you guess:-)

2) I would recommend re-soldering the wires to the new switch. They are already tinned and take up much less room than push on connectors.

3) Finally, be sure to use insulating shrink tubing. Put it on before soldering. Duh!

Foot power switch is not staying on. Is there a way to take cover off power switch foot plate?

It may be a bad switch. You didn't state which vacuum you have but many have a plastic pedal that snaps into a couple slots. It's usually possible to pry it out to remove the cover.

I have a Electrolux canister model L-E (circa 1986). Won't turn on. I think the foot switch is broken inside. Was working fine - turned it off then would not turn on BUT foot switch sounded different,...

I have one of these LE models also. Yes, the on/off button is broken. I have had to replace it twice on mine. My local vacuum repair shop suggested NOT to use your foot to operate this switch, but just press it on or off with your fingers. That will help to keep it from breaking.

Sebo Felix Premium Vacuum cleaner brush will not spin. Not the belt, already checked.

Just the other day we had a customer bring a Felix in to our repair shop with the same problem. Although she'd had the Felix for several years, she'd never realized that one of the buttons on the base is a foot-operated switch (the left hand one as you see it from behind the machine). Hers had been "on" from day one, and never been switched off... until she'd obviously inadvertently pressed it without noticing and switched it off. Then she thought something had broken.
It may be as simple as that. So, does the green light come on when you operate the foot switch? If it does, and the brush doesn't spin, you have most likely got a problem with the motor (or possibly the circuit board) in the base. If the green light does not come on, there is most likely a poor (or broken) electrical connection where the bag compartment plugs in to the base.
I'll gladly try to be more help if you want to post more details.

Vacuum will not turn on

Kenmore Model 116, behind the Vacuum cleaner there is a Motor Reset switch which you need to press.
1. Make sure the Vacuum Cleaner is unplugged.
2. Press the reset button gently in with a pen.
3. Plug back the Vacuum cleaner and it should work.

Kenmore upright vacuum model 116.35923500. not rotating when on. Easy way to clean without taking apart?

There is a switch that tells the cleaner that the upright is locked upright and the beater bar won't spin until you depress the foot release and tilt the cleaner. This switch mount is poorly designed, its just sitting in a pocket at the pivot of the cleaner. I had to double stick tape it in the pocket to keep it from moving around and put silicone spray on the pivot. The pivot actuates the switch, but its a bad design.
  • Remove front cover, to do this, pull out the bag, remove the screws under the bag and on the outside. 12 screws total.
  • Locate switch on pivot
  • Confirm mounting of switch, re-adjust and use tape or epoxy.
  • Reassemble and test.
  • This is for a Kenmore 35923500 upright direct drive.

Blowing out dust

The reason most vacuums blow dust is because there is little or no suction in the foot of the vac. on this model, check to make sure that the hose is installed in the recepticle on the back to draw vacuum from the floor. verify the filter is clean, and there is no obstruction in the bottom foot.
