Question about Sewing Machines
I have never had a problem with this machine - bought it new in 1981 - used it at Christmas 2013 and no problem - took it out to make twin quilts for twin granddaughters and feed dogs aren't feeding the fabric. I can't figure out how to raise them and can't find my old manual. I can see how they raise and lower but wonder if there is an adjustment that I can make to raise them up.

Are you talking about the feed dogs or the presser foot. Either way, if you moved a lever to lower them, there is probably a screw that either fell out or has become loose that holds the linkage to the lever.

Pull out the removable table and you will see the drop down feed dogs switch lever behind the back of the machine. Move that lever to the left or right to have feed dogs go back to normal sewing mode OR for embroidery mode.

SOURCE: feed dogs
I was having trouble with this too, but found more help online...you have to switch the dog feed back to 'up'....then turn the needle wheel toward you....the feed dog should snap back into place :)
Hope this helps :D

SOURCE: My kenmore 385 won't feed fabric
Check to see what pattern is selected. Be sure it isn't the buttonhole.Select straight stitch.Move the stitch length setting to 4.Turn the handwheel and see if the feed dogs move forward. Press the reverse lever and see if they move backwards. Select straight stretch stitch and turn the wheel to see if the feed dogs move forward and backward.Check the presser foot release on top of the machine and make sure there is pressure on the foot.
Sometimes the reverse assembly on this machine stops working because it has the wrong type of grease on it and it turns into a hard gummy mess that won't let it work.
