Question about Garden
The breather hose has nothing to do with it not starting. It starts when you prime the carb and dies when that gas is used up. Being a Tecumseh. it's most likely the bowl nut/jet stopped up. Unscrew the bowl nut and clean it. Look cery carefully at the top of the threads. There is probably a very small hole there also and it will not run if it is not open.

Looking at the specs on this model it appears you just pull the breather tube loose at each end. If there is a small clamp that isn't shown on the specs. just pry them open and remove. The part number for the tube is 32447. Any small engine repair shop should have it in stock. Be sure to get the right one as these tubes are different lengths and have different bends in them that control the air flow for proper operation.
