SOURCE: ran tractor out of fuel try prime got fuel to pump

you need to open the fuel line at the injector on the cylinder to get the air out of the line while still priming the pump ,its building back pressure and fuel cant get past the pump, another way would be is to remove the air cleaner and carefully get a spray container of diesel fuel and spray directly into the air intake and see if it will fire,if so it may pull the air lock thru when the engine starts and till it gets fuel from the pump directly and runs on its own

Where can I find parts and instructions on how to repair the hydraulic rear remote level selector on a ford 4000 1965 Gas Row crop tractor?

what ive found on these oldies are that they borrowed the seals from there car/truck line , me id remove the leaking seal and take it with you and find an autoparts guy that's willing to look up an item by size/description then I bet you could buy a seal that would work for you

also for seals/bearings a company called timkin has a fantastic web site that allows one to get a part number by size !!!

My 3000 ford tractor lift arms take 5 min. to work the first time in the morning then they are ok the rest of the day

I personally have a 1974 Ford 3000 diesel, and have had trouble with the rear hydraulics. I believe that you likely have the wrong weight oil in the reservoir. It sounds like it is too heavy, so when it is cool, it is too thick to cycle through as quickly as it needs to and you have slow reacting lift arms. By the time the tractor warms up the oil thins out and cycles more quickly. Try draining the rear reserve and using a lighter weight oil. If that doesn't solve the trouble then I would check the filters to see if they are intact.
