Pv-dv52 driver for iEEE1394

Panasonic doesn't have driver downloads for this model, all it offers is a program to use a serial port. I want to use the "firewire", and I'v downloaded most of the "driver repair Programs" that have been listed up above and they don't work for this case.

I repeat! those are NOT drivers but a program called"PhotoUlink" which uses a serial cable!

  • stairdog Jun 18, 2009

Ok, I had a problem wtih my 1394 network connection because of a conflict error, fixed that, but it still doesn't reconize my device. I know its not the wire because before I fixed the conflict I kept getting "found new Hardare" screens and it listed "panasonic" on the device Manager.

You don't need any driver or special software for firewire connections. As long as you have the 1394 on your network connections, firewire port on your camcorder and firewire port on your computer working, your all set. The computer will automatically detect the camcorder without the need for a driver. Firewire connections are just like ethernet connections, no drivers needed needed for the device being connected except for the computer's network card.

I suggest that you try another firewire cable first. Then check your network connections. If your using Windows XP, go to control panel and network connections then local area connections. 1394 should be there and it should say connected even though nothing is connected in the port.

Here are some links for reference:

This first link might not have the same model of your camcorder but this will answer if you need a driver / software for firewire connections.

http://www.videoforums.co.uk/camcorder-reviews-problems-shooting/18040-do-i-need-software-firewire-connection.html

This second link will is just for reference and more information about 1394 / Firewire connections.

I would like to quote in the link.

  • Plug and Play connectivity: When you connect your digital camcorder to a FireWire port on your computer (whether Mac or PC), the camera is automatically detected. You don't have to spend hours installing software drivers or messing with obscure computer settings just to get everything working.

This type of camera usually downloads video over a Firewire (DV, IEEE1394) connection. Some mini-DV cameras have a USB connection but it is used only for stills.

Most PCs have a USB port, but no Firewire port. Macs often have a Firewire port but may not have USB. As most Windows PCs do not come with this interface, you might need to fit an add-on Firewire interface card. This will come with a driver for the card. As you have a MAC, you may already have a port.

Suitable Firewire (DV) cables can easily be found on Amazon or eBay. You will need the kind with a small (four pin) connector at one end and a larger (six pin) connector at the other. My Samsung mini-DV camera came with the correct lead. I did not need a driver, just some sort of video editing software that can accept input. Even Windows Movie Maker that ships with Windows will work.

IEEE1394 Fire wire stopped working

I'm supposing here that you're using a Macintosh computer, because the firewire port is only supposed to work with a PV-GS320 when the camera's downloading into a Macintosh computer. (For computers operating under Windows it's supposed to download through the USB port instead.) And:   I'm writing you because I'm having exactly the same problem that you described!
The first 2 movies I took downloaded from the camera VERY easily, but the 3rd one refuses to download at all (the computer doesn't recognize that there's anything to download). I also tried the camera on another computer and the problem was exactly on my own computer even though the updated levels of the operating system and of the iMovie software in the computer were slightly different.
I've asked Fixya for help on 17 May 2008, and never have received any response at all (despite having paid in advance for “Premium” technical support); so Ive given up on them and am working the problem elsewise.
My e-mail address is HyimL@jps.net and my phone number is (310)374-6133. Please contact me and maybe we can help each other.
