Check all the other component on board, associated with this MOSFET cirlcuit. Especially shorted zener diode, capacitor/s etc: Never replace an other FET, without check all the related component. It too will fail. Check and replace damaged component/s at its horizontal scan output section circuit. Check the LOT (Line Output Transformer) too for damage. Replace the horizontal scan output transistor. Check the input voltage to LOT. If the voltage is absent check the feeder resistor; if any. If you wish to get some details; check the site linked here. May also include electronic components, that support the P.MOSFET's, too.

Where the DC Power Jack is soldered to the motherboard, is the DC - DC circuit on the motherboard.
If the laptop uses a DC Power Harness, the DC to DC circuit is where the DC Power Harness plugs into the motherboard.

[Some models of laptops have a DC Power Jack, that has a small harness of wires coming off of it.
These wires end in a small male plug connector. The male plug connector plugs into the motherboard.

I have dell inspiron n5030. The power adapter light turns off when connected to laptop and hence not charging the laptop.

Another component that may go bad are the Ceramic Capacitors, and near the Power MOSFET/s.
Looking at the first link, Mayohardware, look down at the second photo. AO4407

To the right of the Yellow circled AO4407 Power MOSFET, is a Ceramic Capacitor. Small rectangular shape with a wide dark band in the middle.

They burn, bubble, and blister just like the Power MOSFET's do.

Notice the leads on the sides. Those are J-leads. Look at the shape.
Easy to unsolder.
If you are not adept at quickly, and properly, soldering an SMD in place, suggest you use a Clip Heatsink on each J-lead, when soldering the new Power MOSFET in place.

If a Power MOSFET is bad it will blacken, and/or bubble on the surface, usually.

Will probably be one P.MOSFET on the top of the motherboard, and one on bottom of the motherboard, near where the DC Power Jack is soldered to the motherboard.

(DC Power Jack is the jack that the AC adapter {Charger} plugs into)

The rectangular objects close to the P.MOSFETS, and chipsets, are ceramic capacitors.

Make sure you wear an ESD wrist strap, (About $3 to $6), and have it's alligator clip attached to a good ground source.

Use a multi-compartment container for the various screws you will remove.
Label each compartment for the area the screw/s come out of.
SOME screws look VERY similar to other screws.
Advise Do Not mix them up.

Is there a device that I can connect to my inverter to keep it from shutting down due to voltage spikes from the vehicle?


Short of shutting the inverter off momentarily, there is not a simple answer. because you could slightly modify the inverter's over voltage reference IC, but that requires knowledge of the inverter that the manufacturer does not want you to know normally.

if you are running the inverter off a second battery, you could isolate that second battery from the system through any number of time delay relays, time delay circuits comparable to intermittent wiper circuits.

However, if you are capable with a soldering iron, MOSFETs can be utilized as a voltage variable resistor. They can be in a parallel array to increase current. You need to know what current draw is by the inverter with the normal load.

Once you know that current, you can select a MOSFET of sufficient "Constant Current" or pair of them and wire them as "Voltage variable resistor."

The circuit actually does work, the resistor is adjusted until you aproach the "pinch off zone" and tweak it to the point you want to operate with. The MOSFETs will need to be on a heat sink, any you can even wire a switch across them to short across them to remove them from the circuit. The image only shows one MOSFET, but they can be operated in parallel for more current capactiy. Which why the constant current rating of the MOSFET needs to be known. The type of MOSFET is not critical, it can be a trench fet, hexfet, etc. You should plan for double the current draw in your MOSFET selection for purposes of a design centered value. You can use up to about 5 MOSFETs from that one pot. For extra margin in the design you could add 0.1 ohm (2 Watt) resistor in series with each MOSFET to balance current through the MOSFETS, although MOSFETS will self equalize to a point. When they heat up their internal resistance goes up so thermal runaway is not normally an issue.

No,get the same mosfet IC.Mosfet dosen't function like a capacitor,capacitors up a litte voltage it no problems.

Mosfet check


1. Switch your multimeter to the Diode test position.
The following steps are for an N-Channel MOSFET.
Hold the Black lead to the MOSFET's source terminal.
2. Touch the GATE terminal momentarily with the Red lead.
3. Then touch the DRAIN terminal with the Red lead without touching the GATE terminal with your fingers.
The multimeter should show a low reading now. (The MOSFET is now ON)
4. With the RED and BLACK leads still connected to the DRAIN and Source terminals of the MOSFET, now touch the GATE terminal with your finger. The Multimeter should immediately show an open cct. (The MOSFET is now OFF)
This is a very simple way to test a MOSFET.

Trying to find the right FET to replace burnt up ones with


hafler use international rectifier hexfets. there is alot of confusion what constitutes a mosfet amplifier.
if the outputs are mosfets instead of bipolar transistors, it is a mosfet amp.
some designs are using mosfets to drive the switch mode power supply,but use bipolar output transistors.that is not a true mosfet amp.
you need to go to an electronic supplier for the repair industry.
or the manufacturers warranty depot,who will be able to order them.mosfets are very high current devices,you have to ask ...why did they fail. if they are the switch mode drivers,there is bad capacitors in that circuit

Mosfet in my asus motherboard burnt out,


Better to have the motherboard replace, do not wait until some other components might be also damage. Commonly mosfet is use in power supplies regulator. It can kill your processor and memory.

And also check your power supply. It might also having problems.
