SOURCE: GE GSF25XGR Everything seems to be functioning

BAD BAD BAD advise...a residential refrigerator older than 15 years uses r12 running at about 0- 2 psi of back pressure. A newer refrigerator running on 134a should run in a vacume -6psi for back pressure. Under no circumstances should you go into the sealed system. If there is a sealed system problem adding refrigerant will not fix it. Adding too much refrigerant will ruin the compressor...

My 2009 altima s driver's side door wont open from inside or outside thought door was frozen shut so pulled handle hard to try and open now cant open door

You will need to take inside door panel loose which is a little hard with door shut but it can be done and probably replace door Handel if the Handel it's self is not broke it's most likely just a little plastic clip that holds the rod to the lock

Water dispenser does not work

check the water valve and also the switch that is pushed by the cup, also if the unit has a filter it may be clogged, make sure you have the water turned on to the fridge ;-)

I can't get the light cover open to replace light bulb , is there a special way to do so?

Hi!!
Yes, there is a special and different way to replace the light bulbs, there are 3 light bulbs on your fridge, besides the dispenser lights. Click on the following link to get an Owners Manual for your unit, look on page 15 for light bulb replacement. http://products.geappliances.com/MarketingObjectRetrieval/Dispatcher?RequestType=PDF&Name=49-60412-1.pdf
Good Luck!! A HELPFUL - 4 THUMBS - rating for this solution would be greatly appreciated. Thank you for using FixYa.

Make sure this fan is running. You may have to hold the door switch in for it to run. There is a flap you adjust with the fridge temp. control. Make sure it's opening and closing when you adjust the fridge temp.
The problem could be the electronic control if you have one or the mechanical linkages.

Think our refridgerator motor went smell of smoke but is still cool will it burn

Check to see if your condensor fan motor is running, should be behind the refrigerator backing plate and close to your compressor. Usually caused by a very dirty condensor unit. You have to vacuum, brush or blow out the condensor coils at least once a year to prevent overheating damage and to save 100.00 to 300.00 a year in electricity. If this is not the problem then let me know if the smell is coming from inside the freezer, refer section, or underneath.

GE GSF25XGR Everything seems to be functioning properly, compressor is running. have supplied freon but its not moving thru the lines.

you mean, it where not able to completely frozen the layers?

if that is the case then your Freon charge might be under charge, it should be atleast 18 to 20 psi the backl pressure of your freon charge when it is running and it can only be measured using gauge manifold, your technician should know about it.

worst case scenario is your compressor might be Loss Compression (mechanical failure) Yes it is running but it cannot make pressure (valve problem)

Replace door handel

You can usually find helpful exploded view diagrams and order parts by entering your full model number here: http://tinyurl.com/gv383

Normally you have to separate the door panels (as shown in the attached photo) and then you'll see the screws you need to remove.
