SOURCE: Sewing machine straight stitch is not straight

Hey. It's full out possible that you have it on the right setting...but concider this - the switcher inside the sewing machine could be broken (ie. It's moving to different stitches - but not the one you have the outside set for)

It happened to me (pc o crap singer model)

SOURCE: Machine sews zigzag although stitch is set at 0 for straight

It must be a design flaw- things don't always last like they are supposed to. I would personally check the physical reason it is not responding... knowing what it would take to make it stop moving- or whatis causing it to. *perhaps the switch isn't working to stop it- or the mechanism that controls it is worn down. If it was new- I'd return it- but there are only a few options at this point.

SOURCE: How do I do a stretch stitch?

The bes way to hem a t-shirt on a household machine is to use a double needle, straight stitch. You will see two straight stitches on top and zig zag on the back. Just make sure the zig zag catched the top of the hem.

SOURCE: PFAFF 362 Sewing Machine: The shift

Remove the top cover (grasp and lift straight up), spray with "Tri-Flow, liberally inside. Pay attention to the right 1/2 and behind the front dials.

In Front, each dial has a small square opening on the side, use the tube included with the "Tri-flow" to squirt lube inside them. DO NOT use WD-40.

Run the machine daily for 5-10 minutes (set the dial "C" [top front that goes up to 8] to 0 also set the dial on top of the case to 0. Move the Zig-Zag lever (upper right) from 0 to 4 and back again. Respray with Tri-flow. After a couple of days, if it is still stuck place a hair-dryer or light nearby to warm it up to skin temp.

Between the temp and the oil, it should begin working.

I am a swimwear designer and just got a juki ddl 8300n did I pick a good machine? How can I adjust the machine for a more stretchy stitch?! What number should my stitch dial be on to get a stretch?

Perhaps a manual would be helpful:

You should probably contact the manufacturer with questions. Hopefully, you did some thorough research before purchasing this machine. From the info I found, it appears to be a straight stitch only machine. I don't know anything about this machine, but I would be hesitant to purchase a straight stitch machine for sewing swimwear. Usually, swimwear needs a stretch stitch or zig-zag capability. Just my thoughts...

Sews fine on cotton, but skips on synthetic stretch cloth. Manual doesn't really offer a suggestion.

Needs to be a ball point needle for stretch fabric, sounds like you are using universal sharp needle. Stretch fabrics require ball point to push between the fibres, also, a slight zig zag stitch is more durable as when you stretch the garment during wear a straight stitch will often break, need some elasticity in the seams. Some machines have a stretch stitch too.

I am trying to alter a swim suit, and I need to use a stretch stitch. Does the Singer model 2638 have this feature?

Here is the stitch selection page from your manual

I would suggest that you use the stitch called "elastic overlock" using a stretch needle, you need a ball point tip on the needle to press between the elastane fibres in lycra. A stretch needle is blue, coated with a substance that makes it easier to stitch these types of man made stretch fibres, often size 75. If you can't get one of those, then use a ball point needle, size 70 or 80.

You need a stitch with forwards and backwards movement so that the stitching doesn't break under stress. Your machine also has a stretch straight stitch and this would be a forwards and backwards straight stitch so this will work too but can look a bit 'heavy' sometimes. But even triple zig zag narrowed down will work often.

If you are sewing leg edges with lycra, shop made garments will have clear swimsuit elastic sewn into the seam using a coverstitch overlocker, you'll never get as good a result with a regular sewing machine but you can get a reasonable finish with practice. This elastic is available to buy, you might want to use the overlock stitch to attach it to the fabric edge, stretching as you go, then turn it to the inside and use a stretch twin needle and straight stitch to top stitch from the outside, stretching the fabric as you sew.

Trust this helps you a little, 4 thumbs up if so. :-)

Pfaff 7570 Sewing Slow

Unfortunately, this is most likely a computer board issue and there's just no way to predict if/when a board will go bad.

Your only option at this point is to take it to an authorized Pfaff dealer. If the person who serviced it was an authorized Pfaff tech, take it back to them. If not, do take it to a Pfaff dealer - non-Pfaff authorized techs are not trained on the machines.

Sorry I can't give you a simpler answer, but until this is corrected, your machine won't work properly.

Best,
Kim
