How do I add or subtract numbers in polar form or rectengular form

If one or both numbers are in polar form, convert it/them to rectangular. Once both numbers are in rectangular form, simply add the two components separately: Add the two x components together, and add the two y components together.

If you're asking how to do this on a particular calculator, please specify the make and model.

Where is the CPT key on the HPb11 Financial calculator?

There isn't one. Unlike calculators from other makers, the 17bII knows whether you've just input a number or not. Simply press the desired item without entering a number to calculate it.

For example, if the book says to press CPT then PMT to compute the payment, simply press the PMT key on the 17bII.

When factoring or finding deriv. it gives me number?

oh yeah, you must've archived x, that is, you put a number onto the x variable so that the calculator calculates the answer for you, and THEN AUTOMATICALLY calculates the answer when x is in terms of that number. I am guessing you accidentally did 10[sto] x at one point. You can simply unarchived the x number and everything will be dandy!
