SOURCE: Installing ceiling fan with two switches AND a remote

in your ceiling box should be three wires. a red goes to the three way switches, a black goes to the hot and the white is the neutral. the fan wires are black, blue and white. since you have a remote, connect the [fan] blue & black together with the [line] black. connect all white wires together. the remote will now ramp up your lights from off to full on and the fan remote will let you choose lo med high and off. just tape up the red wire in the box.

I recently replaced my hampton bay fan for the same reason (slow at all speeds) and discovered scorched and melted capacitors and wiring inside the fan. My suggestion is to stop using fan and replace immediately.

Light does not stay on seems to be on a timer and no idea how to fix

Many fans with remote will have two seperate "lights" buttons on the remote. One is to actually use the lights, the other is a delay light used for when leaving the room when it is dark, that automaticly turns off the lights after a delay. It appears that Hampton bay tried simplifying the light, delay light, and dimmer functions all into a single button on most of their remotes, without offering any sort of "owners manual" to explain the functions and operation of these features.
I tried to do some research for a user's manual, but find it disturbing that Hampton Bay does not feel a need to include usage information in the manual for your model of fan.
I would suggest trying different combinations of double-pressing the light button, pressing and holding, and so forth, until something seems to work. On many fans with wireless remote, when the delay feature is activated, you can almost hear a small audible sound (I'm not sure how to describe it, really) every second or two, while it counts down before turning off. This could be helpful while working out the neccessary procedure, at least to know that it is in the incorrect lighting mode.
Also, most Hamilton Bay remote light switchs look a bit wide, as if they may have two or three button under the rubber button pad. Intuitively, I would guess that the left and right parts of the button would likely be for the dimmer features, so first try pressing, double-pressing, and holding the button in it's middle.
Please let me know if we figure something out, so that it may help others who own similar models of cieling fans. Also, if not too inconvenient, could you post a photo of the remote so that we can figure out what type it is? Hamilton Bay seems to have three different remotes used for Reddington III fans, depending on included features.

Lost the directions for remote control fans can you help me reset them

I guess you need more information on the model number to get an owner's manual.
If you can find it and go to this URL:
they have owner's manuals that you might be able to download for free.

Minka Aire remote controlled ceiling fan

I have a newer Minka w/ wall controller. The books says to make sure both the wall control and the receiver(up in the fan) are both programmed the same. My receiver has no little switches but has a sticker stating that you need to hold the 'fan off' button down for 3 seconds after turning on the power so the receiver can memorize the program in the wall switch. You have 60 sec to do this after power is turned on. Good luck !

How to wire a remote control ceiling fan, without using remote.

If you don't want the to use the remote you don't have to, but you don't have enough wires to switch the upper light, the lower light, and the fan. You can, however, switch the upper and lower lights together if that's okay. In order to do that you'd connect the white from the ceiling box to the white (neutral) on the fan, then the green from the ceiling box to any green(ground) wires on the fan, then the black from the ceiling box to the black(motor) from the fan, then the red from the ceiling box to the blue and orange (lights) from the fan. I'm assuming that the black and red in the ceiling box are also in the switch box where the fan/light control switch is going. Those are the ones you'll connect to the controller.

The Receiver for the remote is defective. Try calling the toll-free number listed on the top of the motor housing of the safety label.
