How do I put a new pull rope on my 5hp MTD Chipper?

pull the starter cover pull rope out to length lock the housing the rope is in, in place with a tool pull out rope. reinsert new rope into retaining hoe tie a not and cut off excess rope. put ropr through handle hole reattach handle and remove tool you used to hold the rope housing. This is if your spring and starter assembly are ok. Or you could stop being a cheap and let a shop do it for 5 minutes labor.

Tecumseh HM80-What length of pull rope do I use for replacement & where should the choke lever be set once the engine warms up, all the way to the right or on the first bump (detant?)?

the replacement pull rope for the motor will be the right length if you buy a genuine pull rope or a rope that is for your machine. The choke should be in the full open position when warm

How do I put in a new pull string

Hi

Please check the bellow link…

Unscrew the coil housing for the rope using a socket set or screwdriver. Do not tip the mower over on its side when working on it because this can often cause oil and gas to leak out. Check out the coil wheel. Depending on where the rope broke, you might have some rope left on the coil wheel. You can feed the old rope back through its hole and retie the pull handle if you have enough rope to pull start the mower. Next, replace the housing and then screw it back in place. If you do not have enough rope, you will need to replace it with a new one. You can take a wrench and loosen the bolt that holds this in place. When you pull the wheel off, in most cases it will include the winding spring that coils the rope automatically.
Loosen the bolt that holds the coil pulley in place. When you take off the coil pulley, the coil spring will come off with it in most cases. Cut off the old rope using a knife. To remember which way the rope was coiled, make an arrow with a marker.Pull the new rope through the hole and tie a knot about the same size as the old rope because you do not want the new knot to catch on something when the coil pulley coils and uncoil. Wrap the new rope in the direction of the arrow you drew. Next, bolt the coil pulley back in place. To make sure it is working properly, unplug the spark plug- this allows you to pull on the rope to make sure it coils and uncoils correctly.
Pull the end of the rope through the hole in the housing. Tie the old pull handle to the end of the new rope. If the rope is too long, you might need to cut off the extra length and discard it. Place the house into its spot and screw or bolt it back on. Finally, put the spark plug wire back into place.

Need to obtain a new belt and pull rope for my Tiller

you can get a pull rope at wal-mart.measure the belt and any parts store or place that sells lawnmower belts should have one.if the rope broke close to the end knot just pull the end knot with some needle nose pliers.once you have all the old rope out lay the old rope pieces on the ground and cut the new rope to match it as far as length.turn the pulley that the pull rope goes in six turns counerclockwise.then turn the slot the knot was in to the hole the pullrope goes thru and fish it thru then pull it up and out with apaiar of needlnose have someone hold the pulley until you tie a small knot in the end of the pullrope the hold the pullrope and let it pull it in.you might have to cut some off at the handle if its still too long.to do this pull some rope out and tie a quick knot so the rope can't slip back if you let it go.

The starting cord has broken and I need to make repairs . I would like some guidence

Take the housing off for the pull rope. Inside you'll find a spool. Take that off and underneath you'll find a spring. Replace the pull rope and connect it to the spool like the old one is. With the handle outside of the case run the rope through the pull rope hole then attach it to the spool. Wind all but a foot or so of the new rope back onto the spool. The spring will have a way of attaching to the case and to the spool. Attach the springs to the case. There will be a notch cut into one side of the spool. You need to lay the rope into this notch and then place spool back into the case at the same time attaching the spring to the spool. Don't worry about tensioning the springs. Once the spool is back in you need to start winding up the spool in the direction that tightens the spring. You'll need to make about 5-8 rotations depending on the length of the rope. At this point, position the notch in the spool even with the hole where the pull rope enters the case. Pull on the pull rope handle until you pull the slack rope back through the notch and outside the housing. Then release the rope and the slack should be pulled back inside the housing and wrapped around the spool. Here is a video on changing a pull rope on a lawn mower. The idea is basically the same.

The starter pull cord has pulled off.

EASY,REMOVE TOP COVER OF ENGINE THAT HOUSES ROPE ASSY. LOOK UNDERNEATH PLASTIC PIECE,CUT THE KNOT OFF THAT COMES THROUGH HOLE AND PULL AND EXISTANT ROPE OUT. OK, GET NEW ROPE AND HANDLE TOGETHER,THE END THAT IS OPPOSITE FROM NEW PULL STRING HANDLE YOU ARE GOING TO USE. CAREFULLY WIND UP ROPE HOUSING NICE AND FIRM JUST BY WINDING IT UP WITH HAND IN AS IT SITS IN TOP COVER. WHEN YOU THINK IT HAS ENOUGH TO PULL ROPE IN FEED END OF ROPE IN HOLE AND IN CHANNEL OF ROPE HOUSING,THERE IS A SMALL HOLE TO LINE IT UP WITH,WHEN SEE THE ROPE END FEED IT THROUGH THAT HOLE NOW. MAKE TAKE ANOTHER SET OF HANDS OR A WEDGE TO STOP RETRACTING OF SPRING. PULL ROPE THROUGH AND TIE A DOUBLE KNOT AT END SO IT WONT PULL THROUGH. SLOWLY LET IT PULL ROPE IN,THEN PULL ROPE BY HANDLE FULL LENGTH TO ENSURE ALL KINKS ARE OUT AND IT PULLS BACK IN LIKE IT SHOULD.

How do you adjust the valeo speed jump rope for your height?

It's simple, really.
At each end of the handles, you'll see a black cap. You can use a flathead screwdriver to go right in the crack of it, and pop it out. You then take the black rope, pull it out, and move down the silver piece until it fits your height. If you're like me, you'll need to cut some of the rope so it will fit in the handle. After you have adjusted it to the right height, snap the black caps back in.
