You're video card is failing, try the secondary port if you have one, artifacting such as different colors, shapes and lines are VGA related, you need a new VGA card and for more info contact http://tinyurl.com/m7ghqz

When turning on the TV, it has redish, purple & green lines across the screen & you have to leave it on like that for at least 5 to 10 minutes for it to warm up. You just have to keep turning it...

Hello,

Al Plasma and Lcd TV have boards that control vertical and horizontal output to their respective areas. They are connected to the screen by ribbon cables. If one of these boards fails all together, has a failed chip, a bad connection, or a bad ground somewhere it will result in a black line in the area of that board. A bad ribbon cable connection on the bottom will result in a vertical black bar though the screen. Many times resetting the connection will fix it, if the ribbon cable has been nicked there could be a severed connection. They an sometimes be fixed, but it is a pain. An yes I have done it, but the bar is gone. The same will happen if the chip that outputs to that area opens. The connectors are the first place to look paying close attention to the cable, they are extremely delicate so great care must be taken if you decide to tinker with em, the usually have lift locks that release them, but it is very easy to wreck em. Good luck.

The digital board is bad and needs replaced. If you can get the board you hace to crack the metal chassi . Its a pain but if you are mechaniaclly inclined you might be able to do it. Pull the chassi and dissassemble. Lots of screws. Don't force anything and study it closely. It's tricky. There is also a memory transfer proceedure. The board from Samsung comes with instructions.

Have a Vizio P42HDe purchased in 2005. Right half of screen is fine. Left half is series of small vertical bars (various colors). Sometimes they go away and all of screen is okay. Any ideas?

I bought mine in Jan 2005 and today it did the exact same thing....doesn't go away. Seems like a 5 yr. lifespan on these.
Will try a Panny for Christmas !!

LCD Dell Monitor displaying purple and green rather then picture.

sounds like your monitor is starting to go out. if there are any speakers near your monitor, it is likely magnetic interference. try moving your monitor to a different area and see if it still does this. if it does, i would replace the monitor. if it doesn't, just simply reorganize the area around your monitor and it should go away after degaussing the screen.
