Washer fills with water and runs over. water doesn't shut off at level settings. what could cause this problem?

    what kind of washer is it? If it is a maytag there is part called a dome hose that sometimes gets a soapy build up in it.

HI, there is a water level switch that monitors the water level in your unit. this switch has failed. replacing this switch will fix this issue.

It is located inside the washer near the water valve assembly.

My washer fills and doesn't stop. I try to advance it to the spin cycle but none of the cycles work. I changed the lid switch because it wouldn't fill at all. Now it fills and nothing else. Tested...


The fill switch is bad. That's the only "safety" on the washer that will shut the water off after reaching desired depth. To test it, run your machine on the various water levels. For example, start out on the low setting. If the water doesn't shut off after the tub is half full, then it's the fill switch inside the unit next to the tub.

Washing machine wont fill with water when switched on


Fillingwith water:
The waterfill valve - The water fill valve is a mechanical and electrical part,the coils on the valve need electricity to mechanically open the valve to allowthe water to flow into the washer....myth....the washer pumps water into itself...no, itdoes not. The fill valve opens and the house water pressure pushes the waterinto the washing machine.
No cold wateror no hot water - The fill valve has two coils, one for the hot water and onefor the cold water. It is possible that one of the coils can fail and you loosethat filling ability. If the cold water coil quits, the hot will still work andduring warm fill you will get hot water only and during a cold fill you willget no water at all. If the hot coils quits, you will still have cold waterfill, cold water only on a warm setting and no water on a hot fill setting. Youcan No cold water or no hot water- The fill valve has two coils, one for the hot water and one for the coldwater. It is possible that one of the coils can fail and you loose that fillingability. If the cold water coil quits, the hot will still work and during warmfill you will get hot water only and during a cold fill you will get no waterat all. If the hot coils quits, you will still have cold water fill, cold wateronly on a warm setting and no water on a hot fill setting. Maytag washer - the water will not stop running

The washer filled up with water and just started to tick, didn't spin, didn't wash. What should I do.

Doesnt agitate and there is a gronding noise during wash and spin


A common problem with noises from washing machines has been the under wire that may come out of small clothes. In the washer they can get stuck in one of the inner basket holes and make a scrapping noise, they can actually make there way into the pump and jam the pump, or make a terrible noise when the pump is running. Grab a flash light and have a peek inside the washer for this. Front load washers seem very common to this happen! If the tiny cloth  is showing signs of fraying, may be best not to wash it in the washing machine, replace the cloth.


Maytag Dependable care washer.....Locate a 1/4 inch screw on the side of the agitator, ( about 3/4 of the way down) remove this screw and lift up on the agitator...picture.
 
Maytag Atlantis, Norge, Performa by Maytag.....Remove the cap and softener dispenser by pulling it off and locate the agitator bolt, remove bolt and lift up on the agitator...picture.

When washer is in super wash cycle water will not stop causingthe tub to over fill running onto the floor.


It sounds like you are trying to use the largest water level setting. If this is correct you may have a pressure switch problem.

First turn the timer to spin and get all of the water out, that start a washer cycle with the water level set to the small or low setting and see if the washer fills to this level. if it stops at the low level great Now if it continues to fill and does stop you may need a pressure switch or the hose needs to be replaced that runs from the tub to the pressure switch.

Now set at the medium level and try again. does it stop or over fill?

If it over fills you probably need a pressure switch however before you purchase this, make sure the hose is in good condition one pin hole will cause your overfill condition.

Water keeps running.......


i assume washer never starts running if not suspect water level switch or connection hose also be sure small hose to switch is not plugged or mashed flat even a small hole in hose may cause it not to get pressure to tell switch drum is full ..if washer does start running suspect bad water valve may not be shutting off
