SOURCE: Welder not welding

SOunds like your ground is not connected solidly either inside the machine or at the ground clamp. Check to make sure the ground wire at the clamp is not broken then make sure the ground wire is connected solidly inside the machine.

Why does wire keep coming out when trigger is not pulled

From the mig welder, unplug the trigger leads that exit the mig gun on the end of the gun that connects to the mig welder and power on your machine. If the wire flow stops, you have a shorted trigger circuit inside of the gun cable. If it doesn't stop wire flow, depending on your machine make & model, there is an internal issue with the trigger circuit that could possibly be just a simple relay issue.

Rossi 220BZ Gas/Gasless Inverter Welder MIG MAG ARC Portable Welding Machine

The Rossi 220bz mig welder comes set up to use gas welding, that is with the Mig electrode connected to the positive terminal, inside the machine.
To use gasless mig wleding, the mig wire must be disconnected from the positive terminal inside the machine and reconnected to the Negative terminal - inside the machine. Open both the side coveres of the welder using a phillips screwdriver. Use a 13mm spanner to undo the hex nut holding the thick copper Mig lead to the terminal named positive, then lead it through the machine to the terminal on the oppisite side of the machine, labelled negative and screw it in place there with a 13mm hex screw. Be carefull not to bump any of the many electric parts inside the machine.
If you run the Mig welder in gasless mode with positive earth and positive elecrode it will blow the household electric fuse.
If you run the Mig welder in gasless mode with negative earth and positive electrode it will work, but the end of the Mig gun tip will get very very hot and start smoking abnormally from excessive heat.
But if you take the side covers off and rewire it (takes about 10 minutes) to negative Mig Electrode, the Mig gun tip remains cool and does not overheat. You will have to cut just one white cable tie, to get an extra inch or so of free Mig cable, so the thick copper Mig lead will reach accross to the terminal on the other side of the machine named negative. Stick the earth lead at the front in the positive terminal.
I did this on my Rossi 220bz mig welder.

Mig gas conversion for JobSmart 125 Flux Wire Welder

The other difference between gas/gasless is the ability to reverse the gun polarity which you can't do with a gasless only welder. You can get it to work but not safely and reliability could be an issue also.

Pourosity in my welds as if there is no sheilding gas.Ihave tried adjusting gas flow from 0 to max . I can hear and feel gas flow but still come up with a weld that looks like it was done outside with a...

Hi:

The main causes for porosity are: lack of inert gas or too much flow of gas.

  1. If you can hear and feel the flow of gas on; avoid the high flow by decreasing the flow to max of 20 scfh for when welding inside with no draughts if welding outside you can increase it to 30 scfh.
  2. Before welding clean your welding piece with a wire brush.
  3. Check you voltage; a high voltage can also cause porosity due to the high heat of the arc and coldness of the gas.
These three actions should improve your welding.

Hi:

Your gun is not the problem, your problem is the solenoid valve on your machine (welder) that solenoid valve must got dirt or debri from the hose and the closing needle it's stuck . Just replace it, it will be cheaper than replacing your gun.
Have a great day.

Lincoln pro mig 180 No shielding gas at the tip. Tank has gas and pressure, but none at tip.

There must be some fault with the gas solenoid, that is the thing that lets teh gas flow. It will have wires connected to it, when the trigger is pulled it will send a current to the device which will open a valve inside and let the gas flow through.

If it is not that, then maybe there is a blockage in the hose, or a king in the hose or there might be a gap, hole or a tear i the hose or the mig welding gun. In which case the gas will leak out where the crack in the hose is.

The fan of the machine works and looks ok but the motor doesen't run.

Unplug you welding gun and try to bridge the connector, if the motor turns, then you have a faulty trigger, if not your PC board needs to be replace.
