SOURCE: funai wv20v6 dvd/vcr player recorder

I have researched that there has been numerous issues in this unit beyond warranty period just like this issue and the one I have with the DVD recorder. I am planning to write a letter to the company and need some supporters. If you like to put a response (one line with your name) in this link, I will include them as comments to the CEO of the company. I feel like we are being ripped by this company that sells products with defective and unreliable components.

Not work try different DVD nothing

If you are getting power, the indicator lights up, then you're better off buying a new one. If the power doesn't light up, it may be a burnt out fuse. A single fuse is located near the power supply, where the cord goes inside the back. You will have to separate the top and bottom covers and look to see it. Sometimes, the fuse is located elsewhere, but that is unusual. They look like small glass cylinders with a small metal wire inside. It it's burnt out, bring the old one with you to Radio Shack and they will make sure you get the proper replacement.

Dvd player wont power on

It probably has an issue with the Power Supply, however, it's not worth repairing. Sorry.

It can be a fuse but unit has to be opened to see---if fuse is good replace the player as cost for repair would be too much if power supply is bad.

I have a TruTech DVD/VCR combo that will not power up. The inside fuse is good, but no sign of life. Looks like a bad power supply. Any better ideas?

Yes! I would agree with you, sometimes I have found a bad capacitor right next to the power transistor, it might show a slight bulge at the top of the capacitor.

Installed DVD player stopped working possible fuse

It is possible that you have a blown fuse. In this vehicle there are 3 possible fuses that you can check. Under the hood on the drivers side you will find the fuse and relay center. Remove the plastic top by depressing the tabs, You will see under the cover a list of fuses and locations. Look for the IOD or Instrument on Demand fuse, it should be a yellow 10amp fuse. You can remove it and visually look to see if it's bad. The next fuse will be the RDO or Radio fuse, again remove it and inspect the small wire inside to see if it's blown. The last fuse will be the IGN-Batt fuse. This fuse can be moved from on side or the other so note it's location, either to the left or right before removing. This fuse lets you choose to have power on in the vehicle from the battery even without the key on in the BATT position. Again you can remove it and inspect the fuse.
If you find any fuse blown, (the little wire broken inside) you should only replace it with a fuse of the same size. These fuses are mini fuses and can be purchased at any auto parts store or local service garage. If you don't find any of these fuses blown you may want to check the DVD player out in another vehicle to insure that it doesn't have a problem. It too has a fuse which may either be located inside the DVD player or if it's a direct install player it will have an inline fuse. Thanks D.R. Wilkins

You can download the firmware here:

Yes, Magnavox players are made by Funai.
Follow the directions exactly. Use the update for the EXACT same model number. Do not turn off the power or play with the remote while the unit is updating.
