Question about Acer Computers & Internet

Remove both memory modules and reseat them firmly in slots. If it still shows only 1gb then remove both again and try one at a time in each slot. You either have 1 bad module, 1 bad memory slot, or one of the modules was not seated properly.

SOURCE: getting a blue screen
first off, try just one mem stick in slot 1, if the m/c comes up with bad bios checksum then you have a faulty bios, updating this to v0403 should sort out your problems. oh but make sure when you update you dont have any mem in slot 1 because it wont work. if you still having problems then take it back to where you bought it from and get a different board.

It sounds like the RAM you ordered is defective.
I would put the your old ram in and verify that the system boots and operates properly. If it does, then I would send the RAM in for replacement.
I hope this helps,
Thanks for using FixYa,

Remove the memory card in the motherboard and then clean the pins of the memory card by an eraser of a pencil and then plug it again. Start the computer and see if it works.

That motherboard will support 2gig maximum of DDR1 Ram at speeds of 266Mhz. You can still use upto 400Mhz but the speed will just be reduced to 266Mhz. Cheers from Scott and plz vote
