Open the bottom vent, open the top vent. Start your charcoal in a chimney starter (my favorite way). Dump in the burning charcoal. Wipe down grill grate with canola or other high temp oil. Place grate on grill, cover, set top and bottom vents to desired temp. Cook food. Cleanup.

Depends on what is broken. It could be the igntion, either a push button piezo that clicks once, or a push button electronic that will click as long as you hold the button down. If it is the piezo, it has to be replaced. If it is the electronic, it will have a battery that you can replace.
If the problem is not the ignition, then you have to check the wire from the ignition for bad insulation that would create a short.
It could also be the electrode, it could have a cracked porcelain jacket.
If you are sure, replace all three.
