Canon MP980 All in one printer - Error 6000

Canon pixma mp980 printer is flashing a yellow and blue light with error 6000 on screen. My ink cartridges are also not moving to the center when I open up the printer. Can something be preventing the cartridges from flowing back and forth?

Error 6000 tells you that the paper feed roller is not turning, check for any foreign oblects in the paper path, a flashlight and small mirror is the best way to look.

After restarting the printer and inspecting for snagged paper, I opened up the ink area to see if the cartridges would align in the center as they usually do. They did. Then I closed the lid and tried printing my doc and it worked. Hope this is the last time that happens. Hope this helps someone else.

Error 5100 displayed. what is problem? how do I fix it?

According to the Canon website there are three possible reasons for this error:

Issue: ERROR LCD: Error Code 5100

1. Press ON switch to reset the multifunction device 2. Remove packing material MP980 (I think this is referring to the packing materinal when you first open the printer) 3. The MP980 may require repair

Canon MP830 error 6500

Error 6500 is a logic board error code (= 'other hardware error').

Before committing to replacing a logic board, ensure that the error has not been generated and held by spurious external signals. Reseat the ink cartridges. Remove any memory card(s). Check any flaps / covers are properly closed (eg. CD printing cover). Turn off the printer and disconnect the power lead and USB lead to the computer. Leave the printer disconnected from power and data signals for several minutes, allowing time for any static electrical signals present on the logic board to discharge.

Reconnect printer and test.

Canon MP980 prints horizontal pink lines across

try to change the color ink. horizontal banding (the pink or other color lines appearing means horizontal banding) when there is a problem on one of the heating element of the printer head. since almost all canon printers have head built in the inks, replacing the faulty ink will solve the problem. if not then the controller of printhead on the carriage and mainboard needs to be checked.

My printer is out of grayscale ink. It will not let me print and none of the controls function. I cannot find grayscale ink - it is not included in the replacement ink kit!!! Please help

bukes1 is actually right. I have the same printer and I'm having the same problem. The MP980 has a black, pixel black, cyan, magenta, yellow, and a grey cartridge, so 6 all together. The grey replacement cartridge is not readily available at a store. You have to purchase it online. I don't understand why Canon does not include it in the color multi-pack. It's quite a nuisance, because when the cartridge runs out you can't print at all.
