Check the antenna cable. It might be touching something and grounding it out

CD HOLDER STUCK

dash radio,
stock radio
is it the single deck model or the multi deck option/
photos work best, for all that.
if that is the only failure, (radio works)
then the cd is jammed, can be cause by many things.
broken CD
parts of previous cd broken parts inside jamming it
or its far worse.
it will need to be dismantled, to fix it.
unlike computers, there is no tiny hole there for paper clip to eject it , emerg. mode)
so repair on the old one, labor and parts would exceed cost of upgrade, why not go CD free, use memory stick, with your CDs ripped to MP3, files, and move on,....
the last CDs will be sold in walmart.
and the isle keeps shrinking and soon to be like VHS videos, a memory.

A few months ago...i had a cd stuck in my 2004 malibu cd player. I was able to remove the cd with tweezers, but now when I try to put a new cd in, whatever the thing is called that grabs the cd, won't...

Turn off the car (ignition switch off), pull the fuse for the radio, start the car (ignition switch to run), and put the fuse back in. Should completely reset the radio and let you eject the CD if it doesn't automatically eject it when the radio powers up again. Even with both the radio and the car turned "off" the radio still has power running to it, and it really isn't off, but in an extremely low power "sleep" mode (it's how the clock keeps running among a few other things).

The radio fuse should be a 10 Amp blade type fuse under the panel on the right side of the center console down in the right front passenger foot well. The panel pulls off and has a fuse diagram on the inside of the panel. Recommend using a flashlight.

This 'reading text" lockup is a known issue for that radio for CDs that have a large amount of "CD-Text" on them (an extension of the audio CD standard) in addition to the audio tracks. The CD deck and radio software were designed to handle a few kilobytes, but newer CDs often have more, much more, and it overloads the radio software trying to read it as it cannot store it all, and it locks up the deck. There was a radio software update fix for this that was rolled out to dealerships when these vehicles were under warranty, but apparently your radio was never reflashed or exchanged for one with the software update. I recommend seeing a Chevy dealership and asking to talk to the service manager about getting the radio updated or exchanged with the software fix . . . and they should do this without any charge as it was a latent defect in the radio software from day one . . . don't let them tell you the deck is broken . . . the problem is deck lockup when trying to read audio CDs with large amounts of CD-text on them because of a latent software defect in the radio (that was there from the day the radio was made). Only a few music CDs seem to have this problem, but it's a huge one with audio book CDs (books on CD) that have usually have many more audio tracks and much more CD-text compared to music CDs.

If you cannot get satisfaction after visiting two or three dealers, call Chevy directly and take up the issue with them . . . and tell them there should have been a recall to fix it while the vehicle was under warranty . . . but there wasn't (I believe there is a service bulletin though).

Not read cd and dvd

It's possible that your laser is dirty. Would run to walmart or radio shack and buy a dvd/cd cleaner. Clean the deck, load with dvd/cd, see if it works.

I hooked up my Pioneer DVD-5000 to my Amp and all I did was hook up the Remote Wire to the Amp and when I turned on my care my deck doesn't light up or work any more? Did I fry my deck? Can I fix it? What...

sounds like a connection is wrong and if it shorted it prob blew the fuse for the radio. Disconnect the radio from the amp then pull the connecter out of the radio and check the ten amp fuse...

Sub doesnt kick on when put cd in only comes on when turn on radi

I had the same problem, but in my case it was a factory amp.

The blue wire on the deck harness is for a power antenna, and only powers up when the tuner is in use, not in the cd or aux mode. Therefore if you are using the blue wire (on the adapter or car side) to power the remote power on your amp, you would need to connect that blue wire (on the adapter or car side) to a keyed power source. This way the keyed source supplies power when the key is on, and will not cut out when the mode is changed from "Tuner" to "CD" or "AUX".

I just connected to the keyed source on my radio harness, but then, I am not running any kind of system, just the basics.

I have two different music systems, need answers for if possible,

On the no disc messages, try a cd or dvd lens cleaner which ever is appropriate for the device and also try blowing canned air inside, it can be a dirty lens.

RADIO/CD INNOPERATIVE.

There is nothing in that deck u can repair or even get parts for, call the Ford dealer and get the phone number of the factory authorized radio repair center near u, send the unit out yourself, don't go through the dealer they will take the bill from the repair center and double it.

Run your blue wire on your harness plug the blue and white of the head unit. The blue wire on the deck is for your radio antena and turns off when you switch to cd. This should fix your problem.

No Subs in CD mode??

Ah, common problem. You hooked up the remote turn on wire for the amp to the power antenna wire (solid blue). Hook up the remote turn on wire for the amp to the blue wire with white stripe. The power antenna only provides power when the deck is in tuner mode for the power antenna to be extended, intuitively, and cuts power in any other mode, because certainly it's only needed for AM/FM reception.
