My vga port will not work ?

IF the vga port is onboard on the motherboard you have the option to add a vga device to one of the 32 bit add in card slots. Once the add on vga card comes up you can see if the operating system sees the onboard card that is not seemingly working. Then post here what you see afterwards

Blank screen after boot up

Remove the card, plug into your built-in card. Start your PC in safe mode. Uninstall all ATI software and delete the card from Device Manager. Restart. Reinstall the ATI drivers. Power down. Install the card and connect your monitor to it. The OS will find the card in default mode - let it. Restart. When it comes back up, you will be able to select the full range of operating modes.

Windows XP Home Video Doesn't Display

well ; if you have a secondary partition " D: " say

by pushing F8 , you can choose operate windows in safe mode , then try to see if there is a vendor soft ware that comes with your Radeon. you might find it at the lower right corner of you screen, it will be good idea if you reset the screen settings to VGA.

close windows , and restart , then back up your C: drive

Dell c640

By default Windows XP displays the Graphic login screen with icons and usernames at startup.

If you would like to use the more traditional Windows NT login screen you can get to that screen by pressing Ctrl Alt Del (Reboot key sequence) twice.

If you would like to change to the traditional screen at login, instead of the graphic login screen, do the following:
  1. Log in with administrator access.
  2. Click on Start, Control Panel, and select user accounts.
  3. Click on Change the Way Users Log On or Off.
  4. Click on the Box "Use the Welcome Screen" so that there is not check mark.
If you would like to switch from the traditional login screen to the more graphic screen just click on the box in step 4 above so the "Use the Welcome Screen" box is checked

Monitor goes blank after showing XP logo screen (black screen with the xp logo right after boot up screens)

There are different reasons why this might happen. Let's try some. 1.) Does your board have an onboard video card, cause if it does, then XP might be using that as the primary monitor. TRy plugging into the onboard video when you start up! If that works then you need to disable the onboard video.(try disabling it in bios!) if not then 2.)When booting at the select xp or recovery console, press F8. You'll get the menu with safe mode and what not. Go down to Enable VGA Mode then press enter. If that works, go to display settings and lower your resolution then restart. But usually when this happens your monitor says "Out of Range" but u can still try Well if that doesn't work, tell me more! Regards, Armando
