ZF 16 speed gearbox . The retarder code comes up on the dash, the HP of the truck has not been affected, but the retarder dose not work the truck is 2006 CF85
Check the wiring to the retarder and retarder controls ( accelerator sensor --brake sensor etc ) finally have the unit inspected by a service centre dealer.

all renault automatic gearboxes are weak i find later boxes weaker than the older units the zf are no better, ive seen these fail at 25,000 miles and older boxes usually last for 60,000-80,000 miles but with such a powerfull engine i would suspect heavy where would occur especially if it has been used for towing or school runs where the box is working hardest changing up and down. ures will have the older gearbox. good luck remember 20 mpg tops lol...

Blower motor resistor or heater fan resistor. It should be located in the plenum air flow to keep it relatively cool. Also check the wiring harness for any melted wires, or corroded connections on the resistor block. Any deformities in the plastic warrant replacement of that part of harness connector since I do not think your local vehicle inspection laws would allow it to be soldered to the harness.

sorry but this vehicle is american with a auto gearbox and i have no experiance of this vehicle or the auto box ,ours in europe are nearly all manual boxes.Now is vehicle engine turning over and not starting or is the inhibitor switch stopping the starter from turning
