Question about Nikon D50 Digital Camera with 28-80mm Lens

Nikon d50 takes black picture w/ lens cap off

Essentially pictures come and go. The first time it happened I took the camera to my daughters swim class in January . It took black pictures no error message when I returned home it was fine but this caused me to miss swimming shots and my nephews bday . It happened again sporadically but seemed to consistently happen when I left my house. Today (April) I brought the camera outside to take pics of my daughters tball set experience and haven't been able to take pictures with it all day either outside or inside. Help!

Sounds like a settings issue please provide more information such as what is your camera set at; ISO, Shutter speed, F-Stop & how are you using it, manual mode. Aperture priority, shutter priority or Auto? I would need this info to further direct you in trouble shooting your issue.

Testimonial: "I have tried adjusting iso the only thing that changes is that there are red lines at higher settings. It's at 200 now. I usually use auto focus but I tried switching to manual and no changes. Tried in all 4 modes w/ no change. Idk what f-stop is, not listed in user guide. Varying shutter speeds also changed frequency of red lines. In auto it seems to start at 60."

Nikon D50 Just Quit Taking Pictures!

The imaging board is one of the two boards on the bottom of the camera. however, black images are usually a result of a bad image sensor itself (the 'CCD'), and the cost to replace that is far more than what your camera is now worth (if it is even still available)

I use my Nikon D50 for work and I am now required to have a date on all my pictures. Does the Nikon D50 have a facility to do this? If so how is it done?

All digital pictures include Exif Data which shows when the picture was taken and using what camera. Most photo edit programs like Picasa etc will show this data very readily. The times of printing a date onto the photo are gone, though there may be a setting to do it on your camera.

Nikon D50 with Nikon DX 18-55 lens will not focus

Hi,
Sorry to hear about your lens. If you are able to autofocus and take pictures with any other lens, then it means that your problem lies with the kit lens. If you can take picture in manual mode, but not in autofocus mode, then the AF motor in the lens in not functioning. I had the same thing happen to my 50mm 1.4 lens.

Depending on your location, there are Nikon repair centers in Melville, NY and Torrance, CA.
Hope this helps,
Andrew

I have a Nikon D50 black image on bottom of screen what is causing this problesm

If you are using the built-in flash and a telephoto lens, the end of the lens can block some of the light from the flash and that appears as a slightly rounded black "hump" at the bottom of your picture.

Nikon D50 Set Problem - Won't Take Pictures

The F-- error means that the lens is not communicating or has lost communication, with the body. I would first try cleaning the contacts on the lens and body. You might also try another lens. This problem has been known to develop when using a heavier, large lens. It seems like you have had the unit for a number of years. Has this always been an issue?
Hope that helps,

No picture in the image screen

I suspect that you're looking for a "live view", like in the point & shoot cameras. Most DSLRs (like the Nikon D50) don't have live view. In other words, in order to see the picture you must take it first.

D50 with a new 18 -200 Nikon lens

Is the Auto/Manual Focus switch turned to Manual? This can easily be moved without realising that you have done so.

If not, get it checked out under Warranty. If you try to do anything yourself you will void the Warranty.

Good luck.
