Does the heater sound like it is trying to fire? (Fan on, clicking sound). Check your filter pressure. If it is high, it may be causing the heater not to fire because the heater doesn't know the pump is running.

SOURCE: Hayward H400 heater problem

LO usually indicates low water pressure. Check the pressure in your filter. You may need to backwash. If the filter is to clogged then the water pressure in the heater is so low that it won't activate the pressure switch. While checking the pressure turn the pump off and then on to make sure the pressure gauge is actually working. Also check the pressure coming out of the inlets into the pool. You should be able to tell if you have sufficient water pressure.

SOURCE: 1 year old hayward h1001d pool heater clicking

Actually, the clicking is likely causing the shaking. Inside the manifold of a H100 is a stainless steel diverter plate that send some of the passing water into the heat exchanger and lets the rest past and back to the pool. When it breaks, you will hear a 'clicking' noise at it rattles in the water path. When it breaks, the flow to the heat exchanger is intermittent and you will begin to boil the water, causing the shaking. This situation is dangerous, especially without a pressure relief in the heater or pipe. As long as your water chemistry is sound, Hayward will usually cover this under warranty even if the unit is over a year old. Hi I hay a Hayward H400 pool heater. It is 2

This is a water flow problem and will be the by-pass assembly in the water manifold. Or their may be an external by-pass wich will be a valve bridging the inlet and outlet pipes for the water. This valve if you have it should be 80-90% closed to force water through heater. Before you do anything be sure to check to be sure the filter and baskets are clean. Often this is the problem.

Hayward H400 Pool heater will not stay lit

"IF" - Hayward Pool Heater Fails to Ignite: the most common reason for this problem is insufficient gas supply. The Hayward heater LED display will show a diagnostic fault code of "IF" which stands for Ignition Failure. Undetected gas pressure problems if not investigated properly may result in unnecessary replacement and servicing of your Hayward Pool Heater.

check pressure switch operation most heaters will not operate without sufficient water flow/pressure. You can use a multimeter to troubleshoot the wiring using the schematic. If its induced draft milivolt ignition verify there is suffiecient gas flow to the unit
