This is for a duel line trimmer. I hope this will help.

Cut two separate pieces of string, about 7 ft. each.

Stick the end of the line in the hole on the inside of spool.

Wind clockwise onto spool, putting the line that is closest to the ground on first.

Once you have winded this piece on, lock the last 4 inches of line through the slits on spool.

Repeat process for second piece of line, locking the last 4 inches in slot opposite the other locked in piece.

Put the spool on the trimmer, feeding the end of lines through either hole on trimmer.

Before you push the spool all the way on, pull the strings out of the locked position. Put cap on and GO CRAZY!

I have a homelite ST-175G string trimmer. How far out do you turn the two carb adjustment screws so it will start?

I would like you to look at this carburetor tuning tutorial by a major carburetor manufacturer. They answer all your questions here:

Does a homelite st-175g have a clutch?

I couldn't find a parts breakdown for your exact model, but on the ST-185, the clutch is optional. If you can remove the handle from the front engine cover (probably 4 Torx screws) and look inside, there would be a round 4" or so metal drum with the clutch inside right near the front of the cover. It is not hard to spot. Post back if needed.

Gas leaking from damaged plastic bulb on primer. How ccan I replace it? Homelite Trimmer ST 175G.

If its built into the carb, 2 screws and a cover plate hold it in place. If it is externally mounted, if you look at it closely, you will see it may be snapped into place in the cover its in. Small engine shops and Ebay have the replacements.
