Pride Legend XL flashing led issue when first turned on

The scooter is about 4-5 years old (bought used). It has the dual speed option (rabbit-turtle). Lately it is exhibiting a weird symptom when sitting for a while and the key is first turned on..continuous flash..nothing to decode a flash count.Scooter will not reverse. Turn key on off a couple of times and press FWD lever, I hear a relay click and the scooter will move forward and then backwards. Battery chargef indicator is pegged to the right, New batteries installed last year and maintained over the winter. Any ideas?

Ok, I FOUND MY PROBLEM. The reason it would not move

was because the speed pot was DIRTY. The speed pot must be at minumum so that the scooter does not jump ahead once the fwd or rev paddle is depressed. It is a safety feature on these scooters and if the speed control is not reduced, there is continuous flashing indicator. In my case the speed pot was dirty inside and not going down to minimum so the motor relay was prevented from being engaged (click). Prying the Knob off the speed control and spraying down the shaft with electronic contact cleaner, then rotating the control back and forth a few times, SOLVED the problem. With the speed pot at miinimum and key on, the status LED is steady and scooter will move in forward or reverse.

SOURCE: no movement, forward or reverse

sounds like it is in neutral, look for a lever on the bottom, rear of the scooter to pull up

SOURCE: I have a Pride Legnd..the scooter started loseing

hi, first you need to check the connections to the batteries then to the motor controller, and don't dismiss the speed pot, disconnect the speed pot and try a normal 5K pot inplace of it, if the scooters responds you find the problem just a case of getting the right speed pot. Check the freewheel switch, normally it located on the motor side.

SOURCE: The Pride GoGo 4 wheel scooter does not move

Hi. How many beeps between pauses? This is a fault code.
A couple of problems might cause this fault. Is your free-wheel lever in the correct place. These levers operate a switch, that tells the controller that the brake is disabled, this stops the controller from driving the scooter with out brakes.

Might also be caused by a stuck brush in the motor. This is usually caused by the caps that hold the brushes in, not being tight enough. Check the brushes, make sure they slide in and out smoothly, retighten the caps. Be carefull because these caps can crack easily.
Good luck. Neil.

SOURCE: Pride Celibrity 3 wheel electric scooter. The motor isn't working

the click is the electric brakes releasing , most likly the problem you are having is the brushes in the motor may be shot cheap easy fix on each side of the motor there should be what looks like a flat head screw those are the brush covers remove them and check them replace as need , otherwise the motor may be shot

This sounds to me like you need a cleaning of all electrical connections that you can get to. I would remove cable from negitive side of the battery first and leave it disconnected until you are finished. Clean both battery cables using a wire brush sand paper or whatever you can to clean. I would also have the battery tested. Some auto parts stores such as auto zone will do this for you for free.
You probably will need to have most of this work done by a service tech, as it sounds like the throttle control is going to need work and the only units like yours that I have worked on were not user friendly.Sorry I'm not more help. Thank you

I have a problem with a Drive Mini Phantom scooter. If you picture the speed control dial as a clock with the slow (turtle) position at 7:00 and the fast (rabbit) position at 5:00, the scooter does not...

It could be battery problems or ECU problems i dont feel the problem stems from the dial or variable switch. if possible try and get a current tester and test how much power the battery's are actually producing. other than those suggestions i dont have any other fixes at present, keep me posted, best regards

Today i got a rascal329le mobility scooter and i did not get a manual with it and i dont know what the turtle switch is for, its above the speed knob in top right of 'dashboard' could you tell me...

The turtle switch is the low speed range. This is so you creep along at slower speeds inside buildings etc.

You should be bale to get a manual from Rascal. Call the customer service center at 1-800-257-7955
That should be the right number if not contact any local reseller and they should be able to get your in touch with Rascal.

Just bought this from an individual who knew nothing about it. Scooter is in excellent condition however it has been sitting for a bit. The problem is the scooter only goes forward when in the High speed...

This model Drive Phoenix 3 wheel is found for sale at pharmacies and is subject to floor model abuse.

Most common abuse is not recharging batterys and letting them sulfate thus
reducing life of of charge.

I have found that the foward and back-up levers have been bent
by people sitting and squeezing both levers at the same time. the resulting misshaping of the levers results in a very slow speed comand to the controller because of limitted movment of speed control. The result is that main control (turtle/hare) must be advanced to fast (hare) position to get scooter to move.

I have had success straightening levers by carefully bending them in opposite direction on my Phoenix 3W ( which was a clearence item with no warranty.)

The real (legal)solution is ordering a new lever having a technician
replace it so as not to void warranty.

Hope this helps....jth1939

Stuck in slow (turle) setting.

Hi. This fault could have a few different causes.
Does your hand control have a dial for the turtle to rabbit speed control, or does it have an up button and a down button?. I have had a few dial ( potentiometer ) pots play up, and cause similar problems.
The fault could also be faulty Battery or Motor connector. These terminals develope a bad connection and can get that bad that the plastic housing starts to melt with heat. Also check battery terminals are tight.
Do the batteries last? I have had a few machines with a burnt out motor. These often still drive but only slowly, and the batteries fade quickly.
Good luck. Neil.
