Question about JENSEN DISTRIBUTION SERVICES Arctic King MWK-05CMN1-B 5000 BTU Window-Mounted Air Conditioner JEN053-1

Air conditioner is new. Compressor comes on and then shuts off after a few seconds. After a few more seconds it comes on again. Basically it is cycling 2 or 3 times in a minute.

I figured out that there is a piece of copper line in the front, which I assume is there to tell the thermostat the room temperature, needed to be moved away from the air flow some. Once I did that, the a/c began functioning just fine.

Eather unit is not big enough for what you need it to do or the unit is short cycling and the compressor is heating up which could mean low

Window unit (110) cools for a few minutes then stops cooling just fan air unit is about 6 0r 7 years old

It sounds like your compresssor is shutting off on an overload. After the overload cools down the compressor comes back on until the overload heats up and shuts the compressor off again. The fan keeps running as it is not on the same circuit as your compressor.

9yr old model Maytag window a/c - just blows cold for 30 seconds - then blows warm. Was perfect until this happened. Is it worth fixing? What would be the usual fix for this?

The compressor is shutting off on overload after running for a few seconds. The overload cools down and starts the compressor running again until the overload heats up and shuts the unit off again.

Carrier ac model 38ckc does not cool properly. Outside unit runs but air coming out of the top is cooler than the other units that we have. Just had a service replacing all the filters and coolant checked...

Air conditioner compressor will not start. When power is applied to the air conditioning outdoor unit the fan starts, but you hear a sound like the compressor is trying to start, "UGGG"..., for about 5 to 10 seconds and then all you hear is the outdoor condenser fan run. The compressor is locked and will not start. What is happening is the compressor is trying to start, but because the compressor motor is locked it tries to start for a few seconds and then because of the high amperage being drawn goes off on internal overload. The internal overload protects the compressor windings from overheating and burning up. I see this many times during the start of the air conditioning season. Some compressors just have a hard time starting after sitting all winter long. Some compressors are locked up so bad that I can not start them and must tell my customer that they need a new compressor . Many times I can get the compressor started again without having to buy a new compressor by using the device called, "Super-Boost." I keep two or three of these on the truck. They have saved many of my customers from having to buy new compressor

A/c compressor comes for a second or two and then shuts off. What is causing this problem.

Its hard to tell from a distance, but when a compressor is locked up, it will attempt to start about every 2 minutes. It will draw a lot of current for a few seconds then click off. If this is the problem it requires a compressor replacement. As a last resort you might try a "hard start kit" which is available at heating and air supply companies. You may have to get someone in the business get it for you, they don't usually sell to the public.

THE COMPRESSOR IS CYCLING EVERY FEW SECONDS IT HAS NOT DONE THAT BEFORE LIKE HMMMMM HMMMM HMMMM

Sounds as though the compressor is trying to start, and then shuts off, then tries again. If this is the case...

Usually this results when the capacitor has gone bad and the compressor is unable to start or break free to run.

Basically a capacitor gives the compressor a "Bump" to allow the pistons to break-away from the stopped position. Once the compressor is operational, the capacitor circuit is dropped and the compressor functions as expected. When the capacitor goes bad, the pistons cannot move and the compressor over-amps and the internal, or external OL (overload) opens due to high amp draw. When the OL cools down it allows the compressor to try to start again. But as it cannot it will make a loud humming noise as if it were locked up.

Which brings me to my second solution.... the compressor is locked up mechanically. And the pistons have siezed or welded themselves stationary. If this is the case, and the capacitor checks out good, then the compressor will need to be replaced.

My compressor shuts off after a few minutes

Hello
One possibilty is the out side coils or condenser is dirty. And the unit is shutting down on high heat.

Try cleaning the outside coils with some simple green cleaner or even comet spray, then rinse with a hose.

I turned on my AC. The compressor sounded like it was straining and the fan wouldn't go on, then compressor went off. But the green powwer light was still on on the plug. I turned it off, unplugged it....

I am guessing it is a window or wall unit right? not central AC? If thats the case, how old is it? New? can u return it? if not, if its older than 4 or 5 years, trash it and get a new one! If the fan isnt working after a few seconds or minutes the compressor will over heat and shut off, its not worth repairing

Hisense air conditioner

-If both compressor and fan motor starts and stop, thermostat is the defect.
- If only the compressor check for your outlet no sign of discoloration, check the voltage if normal, check the defective overload protector of the compressor it its external, or compressor itself is defective
