SOURCE: The cartridge carriage has jammed at the right

The carriage is probably stuck due to obstruction on its way ,which doesnt allow for free movement.examine the carriage rail for any obstruction ,if possible use a pressurised blower to blow the carriage rail.then Open the access to see if the print head will move to the center if not then Unplug the unit. Open the back door
check for a small black gear and spin the gear
and check where the print heads park.check the tray where the print head packs for any possible obstruction as u spin the gear. as the plate moves .after then Turn the unit back on. and try printing again

1. 1 Switch off the printer and disconnect the powersupply. Allow any residual charge to fade away before putting your hands ormetal tools inside the chassis. 2. Step 2 Pin down the exact location of the jam. Thethree hot spots for a jam are the paper tray, anywhere between the feed trayand the print carriage, or between the print carriage and the output tray. 3. Step 3 Take off the front paper tray if the sheet gotstuck while it was still in the front area of the printer. If the sheet jammedhere, you should be able to see most of the paper. 4. Step 4 Pull on the sheet with both hands and steadypressure. Do not tug as you might rip the paper, leaving a chunk of it deeperin the machine. 5. Step 5 Open the back panel to reach paper jammedbetween the feed tray area and the print carriage of the all-in-one printer.Carefully remove the jammed paper from the machine. 6. Step 7 Return any access panels to their closed andlocked positions. Plug your printer back in and flip the power switch.

The carriage that holds the cartridges is stuck and when I open the front panel it wont move to the center as usual. I cannot print anything obviously

I have the same printer. Underneath the home position is a rubber "wiper" that cleans the underside of the cartridges. Ink buildups get dried out and can cause the carriage to stick. You may be able to " help" the carriage out of home position by GENTLY using the belt that runs from left to right to move the carriage to the left. U nderneath where the carriage previous sat you will see 2 rubber objects. Carefully wipe off any dried up ink. This is a messy job ! Good luck.

Paper jammed

Hi Good day!!!
Here are some steps to remove paper jam

1. Switch off the printer and disconnect the power supply. Allow any residual charge to fade away before putting your hands on the metal tools inside the chassis.

2. Pin down the exact location of the jam. The three hot spots for a jam are before a sheet completely leaves the paper tray, between the feed tray and the print carriage or between the print carriage and the output tray.

3. Take off the front paper tray. If the sheet jammed around here, you should be able to see most of the paper.

4. Pull on the sheet with both hands and steady pressure. Don't tug too quickly. You might rip the paper, leaving a chunk of it deeper in the machine.

5. Open the back panel to reach paper jammed between the feed tray area and the print carriage of the all-in-one printer. Carefully remove the jammed paper from the machine.

6. Use the carriage access door to get at a jam further inside. You may need to move the print carriage out of your way to get at the jam.

7. Return any access panels to their closed and locked positions. Plug your printer back in and flip the power switch.

Pixma MP610 will not start up. Was working OK. Just under 1 year old. Printer detected by computer, and print carriage lifts, but will not move. Ink in all the cartridges Front lights blinking alternately...

6A00 indicates a problem with the carriage lifting mechanism. Simply put there is beam kind of thing that the cartridge carriage assembly on which the print head rides on and something on it is obstructing the carriage assembly. The fix? Open the printhead cover and turn on the printer. You will see that the carriage arm is extended and tries to move back to the initial printing position but it can't. Just give it a little helping hand and bingo! The print head moves to the correct position. You will then have to clean up whatever is blocking its path. Usual culprits being ink, paperclips, tiny bits of popcorn(or anything else you prefer eating while printing!:)

Let me know if you need more help,
Sai.

  1. Disconnect the power cord from the back of the product.
  2. Remove the rear access door. Press in the tab on the left of the door, and then pull out the door. Figure 1: Remove the rear access door c00861145.jpg

  4. Wipe the paper rollers with a lint-free cloth lightly moistened with distilled or bottled water.
  5. Rotate the rollers with your fingers to clean all the way around. Figure 2: Clean the paper rollers c00246512.jpg
  6. Allow the rollers to dry completely.
  7. Replace the rear access door. Align the pegs on the right side of the door, and then push the door forward until it snaps into place. Figure 3: Replace the rear access door c00861146.jpg

Printer problems

Two areas to check: (1) There's a encoder strip (sliver colored metal in the lexmark) the sits right behind the carriage assembly (where the cartridges are installed). It is slotted with "timing marks". This lets the machine know where the carriage assembly is at when parked in home position or starting to print a job. You can carefully clean this with water and a paper towel or cotton swab. I would recommend using some canned air to clean it after that since some of the paper fibers for the towel could be left behind. (2) The carriage rod that the carriage assembly (see above) rides on gets dirty and dry. Clean it with some water and paper towel then use a drop of light weight oil (3 in 1 or sewing machine oil) on it one either side of the carriage assembly. If these don't work, probably time for a new machine.

Okidata 320/420 printhead not printing aligned.

Clean the large silver rod that runs through the carriage. It is dirty and not allowing the carriage to move as freely as it should. Ideally it should be left dry. Also change the ribbon. The same motor drives the carriage and the ribbon. If it has a bind, the same thing can happen. Hope it helps Ed
