SOURCE: My Xbox 360 is broke

That is a 'general hardware failure' Double check all your connections remove the hdd if you have one and try starting the console again.

This indicates there could be an overheating issue, make sure the system is well ventilated, other than that, a return to Microsoft is possibly your only other solution

1st check that your router is xbox live compatable at:
http://support.xbox.com/support/en/us/xbox/xboxlive/getconnected/compatiblenetworkequipment/compatiblenetworkingequipment.aspx#routers

Next go to your dashboard, select my xbox then system settings, then network settings, then test xbox live connection. then consult this web page for how to fix the issue:

SOURCE: I keep getting disconnected from

When I had that problem, everything was fine with my PC connection but for some reason my PS3 would have problems with it. The 1st time it happened I told the company I was using that they needed to send me a new modem/router after I got the new everything was working fine for a while and then the same thing happened. So what I'm saying is that it could be the modem/router or like mine it was the service..

The 2 companies that have problems with gaming is Frontier(Fios) it use to be Verizon, and Clear Internet. I'm not saying anything bad about either one they both work great for working online just not gaming. Hope this helps.

In order to open NAT settings for the xbox 360 you will need to enable Universal Plug N Play [UPnP]

To enable this setting in the Belkin DIR-628:

1. Log into the router

4. Click on the Save Settings Button

I want to change nat type from strict to open when I play Black Ops. My router is a Thomson TG585 v8. How can I do that? Thank You in advance

Step 1: Get your Xbox 360's IP address from the system blade and choose network settings. Then edit settings should show your Xbox's IP.

Step 2: Go into your routers configuration window thru Internet Explorer. In the address bar type in your routers IP address. It should be default at 192.168.1.1 or 192.168.2.1. When you're prompted for a password you have found it =P. If you haven't changed it the username and password should both be admin, and admin.

Step 3: USING DMZ When you enter into your router config window, you need to find the Tab DMZ, it should be under applications and gaming if you are using Linksys. Once you find the DMZ tab, click enable and type in the last digits of your XBOX into the box below. Yes when you do this you are opening all the ports on your Xbox, which is insecure, but show me someone that has hacked into an xbox 360?

Step 4:Using Port Fowarding After you have enabled DMZ, find the Port Fowarding tab, should be under advanced routing. For the name type in XBL or whatever you want, and for port range put 87 to 89, choose UDP, then your XBOX last digits, and enable. Then do 3073 to 3075 choose TCP, then your XBOX last digits, and enable. Then again do 3073 to 3075 choose UDP, then your XBOX last digits, and enable.

Step 5:Using UPnP This is just incase. Go into UPnP fowarding and enter in the same stuff you did for Step 4.

Step 6: Now logout of your router config. Unplug your router and modem from the power, then plug in the router 1st, wait 30 seconds. Then plug in the modem and wait at least 2 minutes. If you don't do these hard restarts it might not work!

Step 7: Restart your Xbox and go to the system blade, choose network settings, then test connection. This may take a bit, but when it gets down to NAT type it should say OPEN. If not, sorry. You can just undo all the settings we changed, you can just uncheck enabled on the port fowarding. or if you want to restore your router to the factory defaults just push the reset button on the back of it.

Once again this may not work for everyone, but it worked for me and my friends, so good luck.

Enable UPnP.....UPnP can help make sure NAT works correctly for Xbox LIVE. Usually, this can be set on your router configuration web page, which is supplied by your router manufacturer.

Okay I didn't read every post but here is what you need to fix the dreaded BS on not being able to connect to friends.....The DMZ on your wireless router needs to be enabled and the IP address of your DMZ needs to be that of your Xbox 360. Go on your settings in your xbox and go under network settings and look at the IP address, put that exact IP address in your DMZ address setting on your wireless router settings. Make sure its enabled and the IP address is EXACTLY what it says on your xbox network settings. That should solve it all. That bypasses all your security for the xbox. Might want to put the UPNP on enable too. So the DMZ and the UPNP are both settings on your wireless router. If you have linksys its 192.168.1.1 or the linksys voice 192.168.15.1...... Try them both in your address bar, of course one at a time and DO NOT PUT www. JUST PUT 192.168.1.1 or 192.168.15.1 It should pull up a password screen and both username and pw are admin if you did not already change them. If you don't have linksys then just go online and find out how to change the settings on the router u have. This should solve it all and get you back online and rocking and rolling. Now you must do the same with your PS3 if you are having the same problems. Give me feedback on if it works. You can hit me up on xbox at BKM80. Good luck

Connecting to Xbox Live through my Dynex-E401 Router

You would think that Xbox 360 would be perfectly compatible with UPnP. They should be communicating with each other just fine, (UPnP talks to NATPMP to automatically open and forward appropriate ports), and the game's datastream is probably entirely connectionless aside from the initial handshake (UDP).

To log into your router console, type "http://192.168.0.1" into your browser, for the username enter "admin" and do not put in a password. To enabled Demilitarized Zone (DMZ), click ADVANCED and on the left side click DMZ.

You will need to know the internal IP address to the XBOX360, which can be found on the "CABLE TEST" or "LAN" page in the router console.

If you find that you cannot log into the router console with the supplied information, you need to press the little reset button with a pen for like 10 seconds.

If you cannot reach the router console at 192.168.0.1 then you need to go to Network Connections in windows and find out the "Default Gateway IP" which is the router's internal IP.

The XBOX360's internal IP address will be in the same format as your computer's (if you only have one computer, the XBOX360's IP will probably be 192.168.0.101 and your computer's should be 192.168.0.100). All of these are default values. You can change them in the router console as you please.

NAT set to strict

upgrade your router to the latest firmware that can be found here:
http://kbserver.netgear.com/products/WGR614.asp

after upgrading the firmware, press the reset button for 30 seconds, then reconfigure the router. you will need to re-enable upnp if it is disabled, and open up ports UDP 88 UDP 3074 TCP 3074. i would also reserve the ip for the xbox and if all else fails set the xbox as the dmz host.

hope this helps,
trin
