It will not help the life of the battery. These units use deep cycle batteries in them and they should not be discharged past 50% to ensure prolonged life.

Battery charging

Hi Patrick,
A rechargeable battery will eventually fail to accept a charge - just like your car battery.
The number of recharges a battery will be able to accept is dependent on a number of things, such as: temperature, if it is run to almost nothing before recharging (or if it is recharged after only being discharged slightly), how much of a load is on the battery and how fast (high amperage) or slow (low amperage) the battery is recharged.
Generally, cooler temperatures are better for batteries, as is using the battery almost completely before recharging rather than topping off after minimal usage, small loads are better (you don't have a choice in your GPS watch tho) and a slow or "trickle" charge is better than a fast, high current charge (you may not have a choice on this either). A few hundred discharge / recharge cycles is not uncommon - significantly less if the battery isn't cycled properly or used in harsh conditions.
I hope this helps!

Extending laptop battery life

Hi, when you purchase a laptop, or you have a laptop with good battery life, once a month unplug the mains and use the laptop until the 'battery needs recharging' warning appears, or until the laptop 'dies' then recharge the laptop as usual. You can continue to use the laptop whilst recharging is in process. This will help keep your laptop battery in good condition. It doesn't matter if its a NiCad, Lipo or Lithium Ion battery, they DO all have battery memory and benefit from this process.

Have not used my garmin for a few months. I think the battery needs recharging but it will not turn on when i try to recharge in the car .????

Hello,

It is possible that your cars 12v socket is not functioning, try using a different car charger see if it is functioning. If you find that the other cable is working in your car it may be your power cable that has died, maybe try using your computer USB port to power it see if the battery can get a charge.

Hope this helps!

Once the unit is charged how long does the battery run dry

Once fully charged, it will last for about 4 hours, if it is used without shutting down. The good thing is that it comes with a rechargeable lithium ion battery. That can be recharged once it is weak. I will strongly advice that you do not allow the battery run down completely before recharging as the battery might become weak and unable to hold a charge. So do not let your gps die before recharging. you can charge once it is low.

Nokia phone not recharging

Technically, It would be an old battery issue, or the charger itself, try using another charger, if the problem still occurs, maybe it's the battery or your's phone's charger jack had a hardware issue.

Battery not recharging

All batteries die sooner or later. I believe you have a dead cell.

1) Find another machine that uses the same battery and try it or
2) try another battery or
3) Give up and buy a new battery.

Good luck.

Wii remote keeps turn off, i have synchronising like i was told over the phone and i have sent it back to you and still does not work.

Make sure that there is not a battery problem. We bought a cheaper recharging unit and the batteries died out in two months. The best battery to use is the Energizer Lithium(Consumer Reports rated #1)
