Anything labeled with a "P", such as your P7, is a power connector from your power supply. Most, if not all, computer power supplies have extra connectors so that you can install extra components, like a second DVD drive or second hard drive, if you have room in your case.

Hi,
a 6ya expert can help you resolve that issue over the phone in a minute or two.
best thing about this new service is that you are never placed on hold and get to talk to real repairmen in the US.
the service is completely free and covers almost anything you can think of (from cars to computers, handyman, and even drones).
click here to download the app (for users in the US for now) and get all the help you need.
goodluck!

What type of DVD does the HP Pavilion p7-1672pc use?

It's supposed to use both. Super Multi DVD+- optical drive.
Super Multi indicates it will use both.

However read these two articles,

Presario 6000 desktop wont power up after transporting. Opened cover & I have loose wires that may be the problem. The loose wires are labeled p9 &p7.

Unfortunately, I do not know P9 and P7. Can you tell me if they are multiple colored wires going into a header/connector? If they are single wires or thin wires you may be able to look at your header of wires which connect the pwr button, rst switch, power led, speaker ( 4 pin thin connector ) if p9 and p7 came off here they could be your power switch.

Where does the p7 plug onto,... for the dell dimension 2400

I'm really not sure what you mean by "P7 plug", and without knowing more about your system and OS... I generically searched Dell Support page for Dimension 2400 and found a page of driver downloads (76) (if you install, make sure you do them in order. instructions are on the page. just go to Dell support and put in your service tag # or search generically)What I did find is an owners manual, and if yours has been misplaced (like most of mine) just follow this link. P.S. I still don't know P7 but maybe the answer you need is in there. Best wishes and good luck. -jmattes I looked again, sorry it's a DC plug but I didn't see where it goes. There's a link for service manual there too. http://supportapj.dell.com/support/edocs/systems/dim2400/en/index.htm

P7 plug is hanging loss.

Please take the time to take some pictures of the inside of the system and email them to frankzcomputers@gmail.com. I need to see what devices are currently connected. Also theres a very good chance that does not need to be plugged into anything. A lot of plugs coming off of power supplies do not get plugged into anything

Thanks, Frank
