Question about Sony Mavica MVC-CD400 Digital Camera

1 Answer

Flash does not work...

I took some pictures on the beach and noticed that they where blury, like with fog. It was a very bright day, so I decided to change some of the settings of the camara (Mavica CD400). After that, I have not been able to use the automatic flash anymore. I mean, during the night or when it is very dark the automatic flash does not come out. I know I screwed up the settings, but I love this camera so much I am afraid I damaged it... I read the instructions manual looking for a solution, but I have not been able to set it back to the way it was. How do you think I can fix this problem.

Display screen does not show picture

Could be your camera is still working, but some settings are messed up?
You could have turned off the display. In the menu with IMAGE DISP. Is used to save battery power.
Then try making pictures in the mode automatic. Because if you switched to scene like bright sunlight or snow your pictures can be very dark.

My camera is set on autoflash but it flashes even in the bright day- light resulting in over expose, what could be wrong? It takes good pictures at night.

Yes I believe I fixed my problem. I shined a bright flash light at
the light sensing photocell and took pictures with it (no flash).
Then I darkened it, took pictures (it flashed). I did this back and
fourth and it seemed to work although I have not tried it in the
field yet. Thanks for your offer of help and I do think your
rates are reasonable.

Blury view finder

On the left of your viewfinder you will find a small knurled wheel. By turning this wheel you adjust the diopter settings of the viewfinder. You probably accidentally moved it and didn't know it.

Blury and flash problems

Hello Chad,
As you told the condition of the are blurry,This problem is not related to the setting or master reset. This cause is due to malfunctioning of zoom optical motor and sensor who focus the object. Therefore, the solution of it is, You have to change its optical lens assembly.
I often deal these sort of cases in routine in said Model Although it's a very fine camera but dusty and moisturized conditions cause this problem.

Thanks & don't forget to rate.

Bright light

Hold the camera steady on the subject for a second or two before snapping the photo with less than half of the picture taken above the horizon (aim low, not high). This should render better pictures.

Very, very dark (almost black) lcd screen, but is functional

The LCD viewer is made up of the LCD screen, and the backlight. Your backlight is burnt out, or the circuit board isn't sending power to it. Backlights can be replaced separately.
