If it does not start but you hear a clicking noise, jump the solenoid. If the engine turns over, replace the starter solenoid. also, check the main fuse dist box for big fuses blown.

My 92 explorer will not start when i turn the key i only get a click what could it be?

Either the battery is low on charge, or the starter is going bad. The battery is low on charge is the more likely cause in the winter months.

Also, the battery could be bad and is in need of replacement, assuming that it can be charged to 12 v or above.

The CCA may be low on the battery.

Good luck on this repair.

I have a 1993 Ford Explorer. I have tested the starter and put a new solenoid on it. The battery has also been tested good. But when I try to start it all I get is a click.

try replacing the starter sokinoind costs 16 dollars and i conneted to the positive side of the battery ahs two battery wires connected to it and has one small wire wih two bolts that holds it on, and hard to change.takes about 5 minutes if that does nt fis it you have a problrm with the ingtion switch or the starter.

Car wont start, acts like battery is dead. battery shows full charge. full lights, buzzers, etc. put it on charger-didnt start...cleaned cable connections-didnt start...tried to jump with truck-didnt...

Check the battery +12v power connection to the starter is in good order,
Check the ground connection between the battery negative and the engine/starter motor is robust and intact.
If no problem with above, replace the starter motor.

93 Ford Explorer Starter won't disengage from Fly Wheel

My ford f150 did the same thing, so I put the old starter solenoid back in( the one by the battery) and it cured the problem.
Come to find out, the after market relays aren't rated right, to get a good one, and the right one, you have to spend more and get it at a dealer.

Locating the starter in a 1993 ford explorer

it will be bolted around the bellhousing /gearbox area ,try a good battery off of another car first no jump leads .a battery may appear good with volts and all that but reserve amperage to turn the engine over is another matter

Starter/solenoid prob?

Replace the MAF sensor. The starter is overheating due to cranking excessively. It has noyhing to do with the engine staying running. The MAF sensor is located as the first sensor out of air cleaner. It controls the fuel. Good luck and have a safe trip.

Starter relay connections

if your starter engages but wont spin check to make sure the starter housing is making good contact on the bell housing or it wont ground out
