Hi diju,

with Norton Antivirus, make a full scan to all of your pc. then, all those risk that it will find, delete it. Norton will quarantine them and then delete the quarantined files. they can be only "cookies" of some sites that you visit or some programs downloaded. normally keygenerators are accused as viruses or riks too.

Is there a virus that can overide any anti virus product for instance Norton?

the problem with viruses are that they are being produced by hackers at a rate that keeps them ahead of anti-virus products like norton, and the rest
so if norton is not up to date or you have the wrong product ( norton has different levels of protection)it is a possibility that a virus can get through on the back of a e-mail or from face book ( anything that has a link is a potential virus )
from your description, I would be inclined to take it to a second authorized service agent for the laptop and get another opinion as to the problem as I don't think it is a virus but a faulty lap top hard drive ( retail shops seldom have fully qualified technicians for repairs )
remember that the best anti virus protection is you and if you get e-mails or face book messages out of the "blue" regardless of how real it looks , how inviting it is or how demanding it is , always treat it as dangerous and just delete it

NORTON INTERNET SECURITY 2011 just installed from CD. All seems ok but... When I switch on the computer I get the speech bubble saying "automatic updates is turned off. Click here to fix the problem....

Hi,

I think you are confusing the Windows Update with the Norton Automatic update.

Please open your Norton product and see if the status is at "Secure" on the top of the program.
If it is secure with a green mark, you need not worry.

If it shows at "Risk", do the following steps:
Check if the Windows update is turned on or off.
Check if the computer's date and time is running correctly
If the problem still persist, reinstalling the Norton program will definitely fix the issue

To reinstall we need to first download the setup file from the link www.norton.com/nis11, which will download the latest version of Norton Internet Security.

Double click the downloaded file and that will remove the existing version and install the latest version.

Muhaim

Run the Norton Removal Tool to remove your Norton Anti Virus:

And then install Norton Anti Virus 2011 and activate it with your 2008 Product Key:

When you say you have problems with a lot of Virus then install in safe mode and do there a full scan.

Norton internet security 2009 has shut down and said (at risk fix now) when i click fix now it doesnt install the updates and keeps saying it is at risk. what do i do???

if you want my honest opinion i would wipe Norton from your system as it is useless and inevitably wrecks your computer, i would suggest you download the latest AVG virus protection software and the latest update of spyware doctor, i work in a rental company and these are the 2 virus protection programs we run on all our systems and they haven't failed us yet there easy to use and update

How will i remove the virus manually?

i hope you got norton off your system before putting AVG free on. Virus programs try to fight off other virus programs by postiong false virus claims to erase the other program. eventually they will kill your hard drive. You need a product key for a good virus protectant. Norton or CA offer good, reliable protection for your dollar. What i would do, is back up any really important stuff you have there, format your hard drive and install Vista again if you have the disc and then re-install it to permanetly delete viruses. Also your system maybe slow because VIsta needs at least a dual core processor and 2 GB RAM to work like a XP machine

Are norton security says that are security status is at risk.tried fix now a few times, doesnt work.says spyware defs at risk.virus spyware scan at risk.protection updates at risk.please help

In my experience Norton can become flakey at times. Make sure your subscription to norton has not expired. Otherwise try un-installing norton and re-installing it. Part of it may have become corrupted.

Ok then i guess you should try repairing the NORTON by running the installation again and choosing the reapir option or the next option is to use another anti virus.

you can visit www.avast.com/eng/programs.html and download avast! 4 home edition free edition.
please restart your pc before installing the avast.
after installing try updating and schedule a boot scan by
  1. cutting and pasting this "W62911071H4800A1106-PJY5XRR5" when prompted for the registration key.
  2. click on the menu icon at the top left of the avast window.
  3. click on "schedule a boot scan" and restart your pc

Good luck !!
